These guys are scammers. Told them over the phone I need catering for 5-6 people. When I went to pick it up they literally gave me bowls of what I wanted meant for 2 people. I told them over the phone 10 times “catering trays” & for 5-6 people. I came in to pick up the food and told them specifically what I requested. The manager was unhelpful regardless of the situation she blamed “covid” and the “downfall of businesses” instead of even apologizing. When I requested two trays in person, she wanted to dump the previous food in the tray and charge me a premium. The manager knew I had a deadline and family to feed.. keep in mind I ordered early in the afternoon. She basically took advantage of the fact that I had to bring food to the table and ripped me off almost $200 for a tray of noodles(mixed with the previous batch) and 3 meat appetizers whereas the portion was barely enough, which she forced me to take because they didn’t want to waste it. She didn’t even want to give an apology or discount for the inconvenience which was a communication error on their part. DONT DO TAKE OUT WITH THIS ESTABLISHMENT.. overpriced and waste of time. You’ll probably not even get what you want. Scammers.. the manager just brought the debit machine, knowing shes using my family’s dinner timing as leverage. Shady people. These sort of establishments shouldn’t be around. Especially in the downtown core where people have tight schedules. The food wasn’t even that great either, for $200 I could’ve definitely took my family out to a fine asian cuisine. These guys don’t care about take out & they purposely make it below standards. We went back in to get the food and they just disrespected us, recording us, screaming at us to get out with foul language…too much to describe the what I even went through. I don’t usually do reviews, but shady establishments like this shouldn’t be around. I don’t want nobody else feeling the same way. Money-Greedy owners that don’t care about...

This is hands down THE BEST HAKKA IN THE GTA. I ordered the Manchurian chicken on Hakka noodles with extra sauce. It came out with SO much chicken and the Hakka noodles had that special smokey flavour ('wok hei') that you just can't get cooking at home. I also had a mango lassi, and it was the perfect balance between sweet and tangy, and the perfect pairing with the spicy chicken. Altogether the bill came up to $27, which is very reasonable given the portion size was big enough for two people to share, and it included a handcrafted drink on the side.
Another thing that makes this place special are the customizations. This is the first time I've been to a Hakka restaurant where you can customize your dish just the way you like. You can adjust everything from spice level, to the amount of sauce (extra dry/dry/regular sauce/extra sauce), dark meat or white meat, served on a sizzling place or regular plate, extra onions, on top of regular rice, fried rice, or three different kinds of noodles, etc. All the food is made to order just for you!
The service is also top notch. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted like you've been a regular for years. All the servers are so incredibly friendly and kind, and they took the time to explain the menu and their different combos to me. They keep an eye out to make sure you have everything you need, and they genuinely care about making sure you have a great experience. So many people in the restaurant were regulars chatting with the servers like long-time friends, and the place had such a wholesome, family/neighbourhood vibe.
This place is a little piece of Toronto history, and there's a reason they've been around for as long as they have. There's no pretension or manufactured hype - just great service and delicious Hakka food made with family recipes, all at a great price point. You can't ask for more.

Read moreOh man I was so disappointed. I can confidently say it was the worst Hakka I had ever tasted in the gta area. We ordered the snow pea shoots, chili chicken, their house special noodle with some rice. Service was friendly although some of their staff was new. No problem.
First thing I noticed was how expensive it was compared to congee queen just around the corner. Also Their menu said to add the sizzling plate to the chili chicken for 1$ but also 2$. Owner put his finger on the 1$ and told us to pretend it wasn’t there. Just serve it how it’s supposed to be served, no point in asking customers which plate they want.
The snow pea shoots were 6/10. Better than what I can cook at home, but the bare minimum of what I’d expect at a restaurant.
Chili chicken. I really didn’t get the hype. The chicken was dry. The sauce was too salty. Shame, because the flavor was good but fell apart in execution. When i went back to eat the snow pea shoots I could no longer taste the seasoning.
The Hakka noodle soup. Oh boy. I don’t exaggerate when I say that it tasted just slightly better than vomit, but looked like it. It was in a big red box on the menu in the middle of page so i thought it would be a safe/popular order. The soup tasted like water + oil + some soy sauce and maybe some oyster sauce. Bland and flavorless. Had some flecks of chicken strips in it and these pinkish/flesh colored flecks. I tasted it and it is likely the red fermented bean curd. Awful awful pairing that gave the entire thing a slightly sour after taste which strongly reminded me of vomit. Owner came and later admitted he didn’t like it either but claimed it had “wine in the soup and that’s how it’s suppose to taste”. Why keep something on the menu if the owner doesn’t even like the taste?
I ate like 25% of the snow peas, 2 pieces of the chili chicken and couldn’t stomach any more...
