First of all the food varies greatly depending on the day; you order a hot and sour soup and get varying results which is pretty disappointing as you won’t know until you get all the way home if it’s going to taste decently. Most concerning to me is that their website is entirely inaccurate: it says in bold writing that the chicken dishes come with steamed rice, we get home to find no rice. We called back to inquire and they said they haven’t offered this for years. Then why is it still in bold on their website? There is zero info on what is in the dishes so navigating their menu, if you have diet restrictions or allergies, is risky. They also have no prices on their website either which is very strange as you have no idea what they are charging till you get there. Last time they quoted my husband a certain price on the phone and because they ONLY take cash ( this in itself seems off to me ) he only brought the amount needed, so he had to go back to the car to get more money. Seems very shady in my opinion and odd as this cash only thing had only been a recent change in the last few years or so. We stopped going due to their inconsistency in food quality and poor service a while ago, but decided to try them again as some time had passed. The prices are also not that reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes; This time we only ordered 2 dishes and a med hot and sour soup and it was $50 and we’re paying cash so are they charging tax? No clue as they don’t even provide a receipt, just an order ticket for the kitchen. Compared to the competition and considering all the issues I’ve mentioned, it’s really not worth the price point. Overall we’ve been to this place at least 7 times and it has been differed each time. Transparency, consistency and customer service are a necessity in the food industry, which they are categorically failing in. So with all the competition we will not be venturing back to this place again.

I visited Hakka No 1 and was delighted by their affordable and delicious dishes. The restaurant looked rather dated, with its name in large, bold characters. What stood out to me was that they had LLBO dine-in and offered takeout. Their phone number was prominent as well. Inside looked just as dated, with plenty of seats but overall dim lighting. The red seats did not even stand out. We decided to dine in. The menu indicated that a 13% tip would be added automatically for dine-ins. It certainly had a lot to offer, with menu item numbers going above 230. Here's what I tried: #01 Chicken Pakora: A great choice on our part, 10 large pieces of breaded chicken were served with a lemon wedge and chilli mayo. They were red, which I found striking. I enjoyed the taste of mildly spicy chicken. The sauce was okay, but I mostly enjoyed the chicken without it. #22 Hot and Sour Soup with Seafood: I wasn't a big fan of this famous Chinese appetizer. It had all the right ingredients, but it was a bit too sour for my taste. #75 Manchurian Beef with Gravy: I loved this dish. The spicy beef strips were tender and juicy. The sauce was hot and savoury, and it went well with steamed rice that we ordered. #169 Chicken Ho-Fun: Another great choice, this rice-noodle stir fry dish was mild and had many tender chicken strips to fill me up. There was only one person serving, but there was no one else dining, so her checking in on us every now and then was more than good enough for us in terms of service. The table and some eating utensils were sticky, showing age. Disposable chopsticks were available upon request, which was nice. The washroom was serviceable but not clean. Despite some of the flaws I found in the restaurant, their dishes tasted good. I was surprised to see how affordable the food was. Given this, I would recommend getting takeout from this restaurant for its great value. I might actually return to try some of their other dishes to go.

I went to this location twice now, and it was great and fast service with a friendly smile we had our dinner fast. Food portions was good for the price , we had chicken noodles soups it was decent not much can be said it my taste buds wasnt dancing or nothing lol, we also had chicken curry and fry rice with roast chicken. That taste was ok however chicken was very very dry almost impossible to taste the flavor. Chicken curry was a sauce rather than an authentic curry but it wasn't bad the meat was deep fried chicken with flavor which was disappointing sinse chicken curry should have proper chicken hench the name 'HAKKA" restaurant serving authentic Chinese and Indian dish. I have notice the two times I went here most people was having take out rather than dining in we were the only ones both time that was dining in there atmosphere and ambience needs some work.

About 3 months ago I went here and ordered won ton soup, chili chicken and Manchurian chicken. Food was okay, but I had a very bad experience with this restaurant, the rude and deceptive employees as well as a disinterested and idiotic manager named Terry. Not only did I use my debit card And get charged two times resulting in a total charge of $68!!!!, when I went to the restaurant the day after to show them the double charge they outright denied that I was charged twice and refused to return my money. When I argued they asked for me to get a bank statement to prove it. I angrily went to BMO 3 times, and each time had proof that my account was debited twice, this resulted in a copy of my transactions stamped and signed by bank manager shown to this restaurant manager. this crook of a manager dismissed and avoided my calls and my boyfriends calls asking for acknowledgment of their fault. I was so disgusted with this that I am writing this on here to allow others to watch how they pay at this restaurant. I never got my money back as they denied all responsibility and said there was no way this could have happened and that the bank was wrong despite the bank manager saying “these people have your money”. They blamed moneris, the transaction machine and everything under the sun to avoid returning my $34. All that had to be done was an apology and return of my funds and I’d have continued to go to this restaurant, but instead they decided to have poor customer service on top of the fraud they continue to do. Check ur account after paying at his restaurant, they double charge people .....

Food is not great either and the service is extremely poor, waiting staff are...
