EDIT - IN RESPONSE TO 2nd REPLY FROM OWNER:
The spelling is absolutely irrelevant. Doner OR Donair equals same meat cut and preparation.
If there was no difference between Shawarma and Donair, as youn state, then your menu items list WOULD NOT LIST THEM Separately WITH DIFFERENT prices.
You clearly do not have Donair meat and you are trying to pass it off at shawarma meat. DO BETTER. Keep in mind falsifying menu items is considered Mass marketing fraud with Canadian advertising and marketing laws.
EDIT - IN REPONSE TO REPLY FROM OWNER:
YOU ARE MISTAKEN ON BOTH POINTS YOU MADE:
The first type of product (commonly referred to as donairs or gyros) is made with ground meat that is formed into a cone shape and frozen. The second type of product (commonly referred to shawarmas) is made with thin, whole cuts of meat that are marinated before being stacked on a vertical skewer. GYROS/DONAIR is more of a greek meat style served on a thick pita, while Shawarma is a common middleeastern meat style which can be served in a samdwich or thin wrap. Bottomline is please If you do not have DONAIR meat - do not display it on your menu. Because both DONAIR AND SHAWARMA sandwiches, at different prices, were listed.
I asked for Donair sandwich as listed on your menu. I was asked if I would like it in a wrap instead of sandwich, I said sure. Only to realize she was cutting shawarma meat. And I was charged and given a Shawarma Wrap instead. You had the SHAWARMA in a sandwich or wrap option as well.
ORIGINAL POST: I DO NOT RECOMMEND Their menu had DONAIR beef sandwich $9.99 and Shawarma Wrap $11.99. I ordered Donair but was charged Shawarma price... I noticed she was cutting the beef from the shawarma skewer, I said that is not Donair, she said it is the same thing as the beef Shawarma. I said NO it's not . Donair is different type of meat. And if they were the same, why would their menu show shawarma and Donair sandwiches? Everything I said was ignored and they moved on to the next person. The Shawarma wrap I was given tasted very bland. I asked for hot sauce and the garlic sauce I could hardly taste it in the wrap. I found the items on the menu pricey in comparison. Stingy on the toppings as well...
Read moreBeen here a few times (should have been more, read on below). Overall, pretty good. Place is clean, food is fresh. Wraps are good bang for the buck. For schwarma in the area it's good. A few issues however.
The hot sauce. It's more like salt sauce, stuff is not spicy at all. They told me it's fairly hot, I asked for extra (I like my food spicy) and boy was that a mistake. Decided to go light on the hot sauce on another visit and will never ask for it again. Black pepper is honestly spicier. They should definitely consider getting an actual hot sauce that isn't made of 90% salt.
Second issue which was a BIG reason why I gave it a 3. The business hours. I've never seen a business advertise as it being open certain times, then when arriving between 30-45 mins of closing - they tell you they were closed. This happened several times, not just once. Now I understand if it was within 10 mins or so of closing, people want to go home. But if it's consistently like that, why advertise as closing within those hours? Not only did I drive to the place and waste gas because it was supposed to be open, but now my options are even more limited because I passed on other potential food places for yours. What was also a joke was when I was there about 1.5 hrs early, then with about an hour left before closing someone came in and said "are you still open?" They replied "of course, we do not close when we have customers." Basically felt like spitting in my face... Like really? This was the exact same person who told me they were closed with 45 mins left before closing and the open sign still on at the front. Honestly annoying more than anything. I haven't been back there for a while, maybe they've improved, but things like this are such a turn off. I'd rather go elsewhere up or down the road - they follow their operating hours (or even cook you food past closing...
Read moreMy bf tried this place once before and decided to bring me. He ordered a certain order and when he brought me, I wanted the same thing he got last time and so did he, so we told them and ordered the base, and PAID for it, as you do when you go to these types of places, and they call you up to add the rest of the fresher ingredients, but an older lady that worked behind the counter said that we couldn’t get it and whoever served him last time shouldn’t have given him what he got. She then proceeded to say that because we already ordered, we couldn’t change it and we have to pay $1.00 per topping. No accountability on the businesses part at all. No trying to right a wrong that THEY’VE made. The solution for them was to charge us more instead. There were many other ways to go about this whole making everyone happy. She could’ve apologized for her coworkers mistake, and honoured it this time while making it clear they couldn’t do it again. She could’ve gave us the topping free of charge, since it was their mistake, while making it clear they won’t do it again. They could’ve allowed us to change our order since what we thought we were ordering wasn’t what it was because of THEIR mistake. It could’ve went many ways to ensure they kept their customers happy but she didn’t do that. Her tone was rude as well as she was going about the situation which I didn’t think was deserved because not only were we not being rude, we only ordered what we ordered because my bf got it last time. It wasn’t our fault it turned out to be something that wasn’t supposed to happen. Now, the food was really good, however customer service is really important and because she showed that money means more to her, I know I won’t be going back. Especially since there’s many other good spots like this one where they don’t treat...
