Nestled in the heart of Canada, Halibut House Fish and Chips offers a nostalgic journey back to the seaside of the UK with its authentic and delectable offerings. As a connoisseur of traditional fish and chips, my recent visit to Halibut House was a delightful experience that transported me back to the comforting flavors of my childhood.
One of the standout features of Halibut House is undoubtedly its mushy peas. These vibrant, verdant peas are a testament to the restaurant's commitment to authenticity. Served piping hot, they possess the perfect balance of creamy texture and bold flavor, reminiscent of the mushy peas enjoyed on bustling seaside promenades. Each spoonful evokes memories of seaside picnics and lazy afternoons by the coast, making them a must-have accompaniment to any order.
The true star of the show, however, is the fish itself. Halibut House prides itself on sourcing only the freshest, highest quality fish, and it shows in every bite. Encased in a light, crispy batter that crackles with each mouthful, the fish retains its succulence and natural sweetness. Whether you opt for the classic cod or the namesake halibut, each fillet is a testament to the restaurant's dedication to providing an authentic taste of the seaside.
What truly sets Halibut House apart from its competitors is its unwavering commitment to authenticity. From the carefully curated menu to the charming seaside-inspired decor, every aspect of the dining experience is designed to transport patrons to the shores of the UK. The friendly staff further enhance the ambiance, welcoming guests with warmth and hospitality reminiscent of a coastal village.
In addition to its stellar fish and chips, Halibut House offers a selection of other British classics, including savory pies and hearty stews. While I cannot speak to their quality personally, judging by the caliber of their flagship dish, I have no doubt that they are equally impressive.
In conclusion, Halibut House Fish and Chips is a gem of authenticity in the heart of Canada. Whether you're a homesick Brit longing for a taste of home or simply a lover of good food, a visit to Halibut House is sure to satisfy. With its impeccable attention to detail and unwavering dedication to quality, it has earned its place as a beloved institution in the...

Probably the best place for bacon and eggs breakfast in Toronto.
Another update.....
April 29 2024
The takeout is really fantastic. The restaurant is beautiful. It's very comfortable to eat here but lately because my house is close by I've been getting takeout. And my goodness gracious they are remarkably friendly and it's super fun to come pick up and take them home. The Monday special of haddock and chips is delicious. Delicious! They have a great value for the whole family.
Update - April 2024
Back - took the family and another great meal. I am partial to haddock because - that was the fish and chips of my youth.
A really delicious and fresh experience.
Highly recommend.
Back again and it is even better.
The fries exceed what you will find in a two star Michelin Star restaurant.
Back again and still awesome.... Great breakfast.
Actually terrific. The french fries are outstanding and the lovely perfectly cooked haddock was simply delightful. The atmosphere is pretty good and the location is definitely convenient with ample parking.
I had originally thought that this place wasn't all that great. That was 4 years ago when I first tried it. Now - a new manager.
I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a casual business meeting or a tasty lunch or dinner...

I've been to a few different Halibut House locations but this one is my favourite. It's always clean, the service is attentive and welcoming (thank you to Dina), and the food is amazing!
We had the fish and chips, both halibut. The food is made fresh to order and it is delicious! When our orders came to the table, the fish was hot and fresh and not greasy or oily at all. It's crispy, crunchy on the outside, with the perfect amount of batter, not too much, just right. The fish itself was a good portion, thick and steaky. The fries must be hand cut daily, they are amazing! Thick and crispy, fried to perfection, again not greasy or oily. The portion was huge! I found myself tapping out but continued to eat them all... they were that good! Even the coleslaw was bang on. It wasn't creamy, which I prefer; fresh, with the right amount of tartness. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals!
Dina took care of us when we were there and she was great! She's one of the reasons why this location stands out above the others.
Excellent food and service at a good value, highly...
