I was looking for something to go with a new Trinidad-style hot sauce we picked up and found Island Spice Flava. Finding this spot was the best thing that happened to me this week. It was big inside, but there was no seating. It had a fence all around, reminding me of the pandemic times. The staff, speaking from behind their barricade and the food display, paired my three "All Day Special" orders with rice and peas without asking. While they were well seasoned and very filling, I would have preferred selecting my sides. Although they offered salad choices, the lack of labels led me to opt for the familiar ones, which were coleslaw and macaroni. It was a slight learning curve for a first-time visitor. Jerk Chicken: This authentic Jamaican dish boasted spices and tender meat so flavourful, it rendered my hot sauce unnecessary—a standalone masterpiece. Fried Chicken: Despite not being freshly fried to a crisp, its batter and meat paired remarkably well with our hot sauce. BBQ Chicken: This sweet and savoury dish was equally enjoyable on its own or enhanced with our hot sauce. Priced around $15 per item, the value was impressive. Although it was a challenge to order for the first time, the quality and taste of the food justified the visit. I'd like to return to try some of their other items on the menu, especially the oxtail.

Simply put, just some of the best food you will taste. The flavour profiles, spice levels, texture, freshness, everything is on point. The Jerk Chicken is one of the best (I personally say the best) authentic Jerk Chicken in Scarborough, Toronto and GTA. The spice rub/marinade is the perfect balance. Savoury and smokey without being overly salty or too spicy. Its great that a variety of side salads are offered to complement the main. They also put real oxtail gravy on the rice and peas. Mmm, mmm. (Also, unbeatable price at $13) Oooo, now the Oxtail. This is a dish that will be expensive anywhere you go, so if you're looking to treat yourself, you'lll want to make sure it's worth it. Now, Island Spice Flava is definitely the place to go for this. The side of oxtail will run you about $23, but dont let the size of the container fool you. This will easily feed 2 hungry people. Whomever prepared this put some serious love into their cooking. The richness and decadence of this oxtail makes it a worthwhile indulgence. The flavour profile is deep and the thickness of the sauce is just right to get into every part of the meat and bone and still coat the outside. This meal(s) truly hits the spot. I always devoured it in my car in front of the store.

This was my first time eating at Island Spice. I'm surprised it took this long for me to discover this place. It was pretty good. My first observation about this place was the lack of seating. Besides a small counter against the front window with four chairs, there was no seating available in the place. There was a piano with no bench, and probably enough room for about four tables of four, leaving a generous amount of space for the service counter and cashier. It could work. Anyway, the main story here seems to be the food. With at least four different kinds of chicken and fish visible in the showcase and several other dishes available in a steam table, there seemed to be enough to satisfy any appetite. Their menu, posted on the back wall, seemed to offer all the favourites - oxtail, curry goat, beef, roti, ackee, saltfish, liver, and more. I chose Jerk Chicken (leg quarter) with rice and peas, coleslaw, and channa (chickpeas). With a little oxtail gravy on the rice and peas, everything tasted pretty good. The chicken was moist and tender with lots of flavour. The chickpeas were seasoned just right and their coleslaw was very good. This was a very good dish. I'll have to come back to try their oxtail, curry goat, and more! Thanks, Raj!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE. Management needs to hire an entire new staff. These ladies are rude, disrespectful, disgusting attitudes & they are horrible people. I don’t get how all of these people can be so rude. First off, I will start by saying that their food is great, I did have food that went off (funny smell & taste within the pasta & coleslaw) other than that, no problems. The last encounter I had with this place was so bad. They made me feel like NOTHING. Like I was a piece of trash. As a women, they have no respect. Especially the trini Indian one. She was so rude. A male customer was behind me in line, she went right past me & took his order instead. Another employee called her out in front of me & they had an argument in front of my face. By far the most unprofessional establishment I have been to. On top of that I ordered the Chinese special that specifically says on the menu comes 2 meats. When I was ordering my food I told the lady I wanted 2 meats while she dishing out my food. She told me it was to late & I couldn’t add the second meat when she didn’t even finish taking out my food. When she cashed me out I thought it would be cheaper since I only got 1 meat but it still ended up coming out to be the same price as the 2 meat. Completely took advantage & ripped me off & didn’t care one bit about their customers & not to mention this all happened in one day where I had experienced all of this. I don’t know why they all act like they hate their jobs. Just fire them all. They care about men more than women customers. Will never be coming back here no matter how good the food is. Customer service will always come first & they are HORRIBLE PEOPLE that need to have their mental states checked out. Ugly ugly attitudes. I was so distraught after coming here. Do not...
