I love Cora's. The food and the servers are always great but I can't say the same for the hostess (especially with my experience today).
I understand it's busy. It's Easter Sunday. As soon as we finished church, I called Cora's to make reservations for 1:45 pm. The time was 1:30pm when I called since it's close by. However, I wanted to ensure there's was even a table for 7 people available, otherwise we'd go somewhere else.
When I called, the hostess said, "Yeah," when I asked for my request, then asked me to hold on for a sec. A "sec" resulted to 13 mins and 21 sec on hold before I was rudely hung up on. By this time, we were already turning into the plaza. I called back twice before I could get a hold of someone again and as soon as she answered again, I said it's the girl she put on hold for nearly 15 minutes and hung up on. The host said she went back on the line and didn't hear anyone so she hung up.
I put it aside and asked about my table of 7 again and she said there's going to be a wait of about 25 to 30 mins. I asked if they are still closing at 3pm and she answered yes.
Of course by this time I'm upset and asked why did she tell me they had an availability of 7 people 13 minutes ago when really they don't - because now she has officially wasted my time (as well as our family and our gas) as we were already outside of Cora's. She said to make reservations, it needs to be an hour prior. Arguing with her was clearly useless as she had already wasted enough of our time.
*In short, customer service is very important. Although I wasn't there in person doesn't mean service to those calling in via phone should be lacked. Needless to say, putting your customers on hold for that long shouldn't even be acceptable. I understand you're also attending to other people but those calling in shouldn't be least of a priority. She shouldn't have told us there was an availability so we wouldn't have driven all the way there! And once we got there, she tells us otherwise and how reservations are to be made an hour prior. Anyways, it's just upsetting because time...
Read moreI'd love to offer a review of why we actually went - to eat the food - but unfortunately we never got that opportunity so perhaps this review isn't worth the time I've spent writing it.
Cora's has a phone line but they don't answer the phone. Ever. 6 attempts over the span of a week to try to see if they could accommodate a large group on the weekend went unanswered. So did my voice mail messages (even though they say someone will call you back). No one ever called me back. This practice is just BAD BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT. What business doesn't answer their phone??
Still we figured we'd try our luck and with other large restaurants in the area at worst we could go somewhere else.
We stood in line for a total of 40 minutes (the lady in front of us for an hour). There were approximately 15 people that I could see in front of me. I walked to the front of the restaurant and I could not spot one employee manning the front entrance. No one to talk to or ask questions. One person in line said an employee indicated that she would be right out to let each of us know based on the # in our parties how long the wait would be. That employee did not come out for an hour.
That's okay though. We gave up and headed over to Montana's who immediately accommodated our party of 12. In return, we spent about $400. Pretty nice for one table bill.
This was my first and last attempt at trying out Cora's. I will never even consider this place again in...
