Regrettably, this is one of those rare occasions where my review comes without a single photo – I usually make it a point to capture the culinary delights I'm about to enjoy, but this time, I didn't. For that, I am truly sorry
My recent culinary adventure with Kalyug | Indian & Hakka Cocktail Bar, both through dine-in and Uber Eats delivery, was nothing short of spectacular. This establishment knows how to blend traditional flavors with modern twists, creating a menu that's both comforting and exciting.
Dine-In Experience: The momos and Kalyug style butter chicken accompanied by pudhina paratha were a testament to the kitchen's prowess. Each dish was meticulously crafted, delivering flavors that were both authentic and innovative. The butter chicken, with its shredded chicken in a creamy, flavorful gravy, was a standout, perfectly complemented by the fragrant pudhina paratha.
Delivery Experience: Even after a 60-minute wait, every dish arrived steaming hot, thanks to the excellent packaging. The Crispy Noodle Paneer was a delightful Hakka dish, with paneer cubes encased in crispy noodles and doused in a tangy hot and sour sauce, making for an enjoyable fusion experience.
The Aaloo Rassa with Puri brought back flavors of home, with its comforting gravy and fluffy puris. The Palak Pyaaz Ke Pakode were a perfect snack, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, served with both green and red chutneys that added an extra kick of flavor.
While the Masala Chai was slightly watery and bland for my taste, it was not bad overall. The Bharwa Tandoori Aaloo, though tasty, had a strong sweet sauce that I didn’t prefer, but the concept of baby potatoes stuffed with paneer and cheese was executed well.
The Tandoori Raan was phenomenal, possibly one of the best lamb dishes I've ever had. The meat was tender, flavorful, and simply fell off the bone, making me smile with each bite.
The Kalyug Style Butter Chicken retained its crown as a creamy, flavorful dish that I couldn't get enough of. The Dhakai Parantha was nice and soft, but I found myself missing the additional flavor of the pudhina parantha.
Overall Experience: Kalyug | Indian & Hakka Cocktail Bar has firmly established itself as a go-to for anyone craving Indian or Hakka cuisine with a twist. The thoughtful packaging for delivery orders, the consistency in the quality of food, and the blend of traditional and modern flavors make this restaurant a jewel for food lovers. Whether dining in or ordering out, Kalyug promises and delivers a culinary journey that's...
Read moreWe visited Kalyug Restaurant yesterday for the very first time to celebrate a close friend's birthday, and I must say what a beautiful experience it was! We had heard a lot about this place through Instagram and other social media platforms, and it truly lived up to the hype.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming vibe. A big shoutout to our host Kush and our server Priksha (apologies if I’ve got the names slightly wrong) both were absolutely amazing. Their hospitality and constant attention made us feel genuinely valued and well taken care of throughout the evening.
We started with tomato soup, which was decent not the best I’ve had, but definitely not bad either. Then came the honey chili potatoes and the veg platter (with an incredible mix of paneer tikka, haryali paneer, grilled pineapple, soya chaap, and more). The veg platter was hands-down the highlight of our appetizers full of flavor and variety! We also tried the hara bhara kebabs, which were delicious.
For the mains, we went with Kalyug Paneer Pepper Fry, Dal makhani, Roomali Rotis, and Garlic Naan. The only slight letdown was the paneer pepper fry, as we found it a bit bitter for our taste. But everything else more than made up for it. And what really stood out was how Kush and Priksha were constantly checking in with us, making sure we were comfortable and enjoying our time. They even passed on our feedback to the chef that level of attention is rare and very appreciated.
To top it all off, they surprised us with a light pastry cake for the birthday celebration I think it was a tiramisu-style cake, and it was divine! The birthday girl had a blast, and the whole vibe was just so memorable.
All in all, Kalyug Restaurant is a must-visit. It strikes the perfect balance not too pricey, but still offers great quality and ambiance. Perfect for celebrations, casual dinners, or just a special night out with friends. We’re already planning our next visit and mainly to catch up with the amazing staff again. Hats off to Kush, Priksha, and the entire team. Keep up the...
Read moreOkay! So Kalyug is by far The Best Indian restaurant that I have come across in Toronto (trust me when I say this, I’ve been to plenty specially in downtown )😏. The best thing about them is they maintain consistency when it comes to taste and flavours. Doesn’t matter how many times you go there, you’ll never be disappointed.
They do have great Breakfast and lunch combos and a whole list of Vegan items (a blessing in disguise for us vegetarians)🤩.
I tried their Hara Bhara Kebabs, it’s super rich in flavours and literally melts in your mouth and their Malai Soya Chaap is a game-changer. Imagine tender, marinated soya chunks filled with dry fruits in a rich, spicy sauce that’s bursting with flavours.😍
For main course, I tried their Kadhai Paneer which was super delicious along with a perfectly cooked Garlic Naan and Lachcha Paratha which truly is beyond comparison to any other restaurant.
When it comes to non-veg items, my friends are a fan of their Butter Chicken and Tandoori Raan. They finished the whole plate in 30 seconds. 😂
Also, their menu has some of the best Indian comfort food items such as Aloo Rassa with Halwa, Poori Chana, Dosa, Idli, Poha, Tawa Paratha just to name a few (have them with Masala Chai- The Best). It truly has an essence of a home cooked meal during the day, but that doesn’t undermine the evenings at their patio! It’s filled with a lively and energetic atmosphere, making for a fun and enjoyable experience.
This is A MUST go place for dining-in. If you miss it, your life is a waste and Do Not call yourself a foodie EVER.
P.S. I am terrible at clicking pictures😅
P.P.S. The staff including the chef and the owners are super nice, may offer a complimentary snack or “not on the menu”items when they’re...
