If you wanna be talked down to, gaslit and come to no compromise , then Cafe Pastel is the place for you. We ordered one of the smaller cakes here, valued at 60$. We were heading back in the snow storm on February 16 and were told they’d be open until 4:30. We said can we try to get the cake another day? And that was fine. We then followed up saying we may come Tuesday. Due to life, we couldn’t make it, and asked if we could potentially get a new cake.
We were then told a new cake couldn’t be made, mind you, this was a cake for my girlfriend’s birthday, so that was nice. Anyways, we get to the shop Saturday (Almost a week later), and they asked if we read their email stating, “Hey, if you buy a new cake we’ll give you 15% off.” We already bought a cake and asked if we can get 15% off the one we already got. Again, no compromise. We were then told they stated to us they’d stay open until 6PM during the day of the storm, which wasn’t true. My girlfriend was upset, and felt talked down to, and was told to, “Listen hun” to which she didn’t particularly enjoy. She then left, I took the cake, and will never stepping into those doors again.
I don’t know what these cakes are made of, but I guarantee the markup is astronomical enough that making a new cake wouldn’t be the end of the world, considering the size of the product. We’re incredibly disappointed, and will not be ordering...
Read moreMy husband had me pick out my own cake for my birthday. This year’s cake trend is the ribbon cakes and I was really excited to get one. However I was really disappointed with the cake because they didn’t have matching ribbons to match the lettering so they called a day ahead to ask me to switch colors of ribbon. Which was not a problem. But when we picked up the cake we were surprised to see that the lettering was completely different from what was advertised on their website with no indication that they could hand write the message instead of using fondant letters that was displayed on their website. Another thing, my husband had ordered the largest size so we thought they would add more ribbons to compensate for its size and make it more attractive. I was really excited to eat it as well but everyone thought it was too sweet and didn’t bother finishing it. I will attach photos from their website and the ACTUAL cake I really got which I really don’t think is worth it $100. I had a way better experience (service, quality and tastes) with Velvet Lanes for my husband’s cake, so I’ll make sure he gets all of our cakes from...
Read moreDO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I had ordered a 5’inch cake for roughly around 190$+ taxes for my boyfriend’s birthday and they ruined it and how! The cake baker informed me something else while making the design, she didnt even given me a proper birthday sign on top of the cake. None the less the look of the cake can still be forgiven but the taste.. hell no! We literally could not cut the cake because it was so frozen, thats after being outside the fridge for 4-5 hours. Everyone ended up enjoying the 20$ cake from loblaws more than this expensive nonsense. The cake was frozen to death that even after keeping it outside the fridge overnight, we still could not cut the cake. After all this, i emailed the baker and informed her about my concerns and did not even expect a refund. I was just looking to put forward my concerns and she makes me feel like this was the first time in my life I have eaten or ordered cake. Very poor customer satisfaction! Will never ever order again and will not recommend to anybody. If you want to waste your money...
