Lale’s Bakery Café is a Hidden Gem

I recently went to my mechanic for a car maintenance when he offered me half moon shaped cookies from a white box. I tried one and immediately asked where he got them from. “Lale’s Bakery” he said. The taste of the cookie instantly conjured my happy childhood memories. What struck me was that the cookie had a perfect balance of sweetness and nuttiness. It was fresh and just right. I was in awe that sugar didn’t dominate the cookie. Naturally, I had to go check out the bakery. When I walked in for the first time, Lale greeted me with a cordial welcome. The atmosphere was quite tranquil. My eyes locked on his immaculate display. I very much appreciated the space I got while trying to make up my mind and get salivating under control. The selection is quite generous, so it wasn’t easy. I tried a variety of cookies (the half moon cookies are still my favourite), a variety of savoury pastries and home made goulash. While they were all absolutely fantastic, what blew my taste buds and my mind away was the Sachertorte I ordered soon after. Sacher is my ultimate favourite cake. Out of many, many pieces I’ve eaten all over Europe and North America, including the one from the Sacher Wien Hotel, Lale’s was the third best I’ve ever had. It’s by far the best in Toronto in my opinion. I checked out Lale’s website and realized he has a super serious training, so I’m not surprised that, besides his experience and obvious passion for his work, he’s able to produce such amazing masterpieces. Lale’s goodies make my life definitely sweeter. Thank you, thank you,...

A Hidden Gem That Deserves All the Love

We’ve been coming to Lale Bakery for years, and it’s hard to believe we’ve never written a review until now. This charming little “mom and pop” bakery has become such a beloved part of our lives that it almost feels like a well-kept secret — but they truly deserve to be noticed, celebrated, and visited by anyone who appreciates truly exceptional desserts.

Lale is a European-style bakery and café, though most people pop in to take their treats to go. But if you do decide to stay for a coffee and cake, you’re in for a cozy, peaceful experience. Every dessert they make is a testament to quality and tradition — you can taste the difference real ingredients make. From buttery layers to luscious creams, everything is made with care, precision, and that touch of old-world love you just don’t find in most places anymore.

But what makes this place truly special isn’t just the pastries — it’s the people. The owners feel like family — the kind of warm, generous, and kind souls who greet you with genuine smiles and always treat everyone with fairness and warmth. They remind us of grandparents who bake from the heart and welcome everyone as if into their own home.

Over the years, we’ve brought friends and family here, and every time, we all leave with full hearts (and full boxes of sweets). Lale Bakery is a treasure, and we’re so grateful it’s part of our lives.

If you haven’t been yet — go. You’ll taste the difference, feel the love, and wonder how you ever...

★★★★★ A Sweet Part of My Childhood and Still the Best

I’ve been coming to Lale’s Bakery with my parents since I was little, and it’s still one of my favorite places to this day. There’s something special about walking into a bakery that feels like home—where the smell of fresh bread and pastries instantly brings back memories.

Lale’s has always delivered on quality. Everything is baked fresh and full of flavor, from their classic pastries to their specialty items. You can taste the tradition and care in every bite. It’s not just the food that keeps us coming back, though—the staff is always warm and welcoming, and they treat you like family.

This bakery has been a constant in my life, and I’m so glad it’s still going strong. If you’ve never been, do yourself a favor and stop by. It’s more than just a bakery—it’s a...

An unassuming neighbourhood patisserie cafe near Long Branch with the best desserts & sweetest couple who own it! No hype, all quality. Love this place as does my Mom for special celebration orders even everyday treats. Super fresh selection! The cute linzer cookies, the fruit glazed cheesecake, the various chocolate cakes like classic Sacher torte are personal favourites and not cloyingly sweet— perfectly balanced and very reasonably priced. Check them out! Support local. Money & calories deliciously spent🍰🍥👨‍🍳🌷

Absolutely phenomenal! This hidden gem of a bakery blew my mind. I had a croissant that was so good it literally knocked my socks off — flaky, buttery, and baked to perfection. Their cakes? Easily rivaling those of high-end patisseries. You can taste the love and care in every bite. On top of that, the owners are incredibly sweet and welcoming — it truly feels like visiting family. Support this mom-and-pop treasure — they deserve all the love!
