Update: After visiting again this weekend, not only was I assured their cut off for making drip coffee was removed but I left with a fresh coffee and scone free of charge!
It pains me to share this experience at this newly opened coffee shop which looked so inviting, but it was so comically bad I feel like I must because it was so preventable and hopefully change for the better will come from this. I have walked by this location several times as it was in the process of preparing to open to the public and finally I had the time to go inside and try it for the first time this week. Everything starts off well, the moment you walk in you step into this vintage vibe. It's comfortable and there are many places to sit and relax and enjoy a cup of joe. The menu of coffee and food is on chalk boards on the floor resting up against the counter, not behind the counter as is the case in most places. Maybe they hadn't been hung up yet? In any case, a friendly young man behind the counter greets me immediately and asks if there's anything he can get for me. I ask him for a drip coffee to go since I didn't have time to stay and enjoy the ambiance. He tells me the drip coffee was all finished and since it was past 1pm they won't be making anymore (???). Btw, it was just after 2pm on Wednesday so if you have security cameras you can check them and see I'm the guy with the grey touque and dark coat wearing glasses. He offered to make me an Americano at no extra charge. Thanks, I said but can't I just have a regular coffee? No was the answer, not even an offer to brew some more (I would have waited). I turned around, and out the door I went. With no...
Read moreThis place caught our attention when we walked by the multiple shops along St Clair West. The setting is beautiful with a warm interior and quirky wall art. It's an experience that is well worth the visit.
We tried a few things on the menu. The breakfast sandwich was my favorite - it's almost like having a quiche /sausage patty in an English muffin. The flavours are great without that greasy feel of a rich breakfast sandwich. At 5.99, it's an elevated breakfast meal that fills you up nicely.
We also tried the tiramisu croissant because why not?! The croissant itself is quite good. I found it not as crisp or buttery as a traditional croissant but a little on the softer side - not a bad combo with the tiramisu cream here. I was happy this wasn't too sweet and had the right amount of espresso flavor to make this a fantastic pairing with a coffee.
The drinks here are great too. The cappuccino had good flavor and well balanced. There are non-dairy alternatives available here.
They also have a few things for sale.
Can't wait until warmer weather to enjoy a patio setting, highly recommended!
Update June 2024: passed by and picked up a couple of cookies - the brown butter toffee Earl Grey and the Miso and toffee. INCREDIBLE flavours here. The Earl Grey is less sweet but has the distinct flavour of the tea and you can see specs of tea in the cookie. The Miso and toffee is sweeter but perfectly chewy and delicious! Highly...
Read moreI was really disappointed with my experience at Le Bleu CafĂ© because of the customer service â especially from who I believe is the owner. My boyfriend ordered a classic lemonade, but we were given a lemonade smoothie with mint and ginger instead. He didnât like it because thatâs not what we ordered.
When we explained the mix-up to the barista, he insisted âthis is what you ordered,â even though the menu actually lists lemonade twice â once under cold drinks and once under smoothies. So we were clear that we never asked for the smoothie version.
At first, they werenât willing to switch it out, then finally agreed, but made us pay an extra $1 for an orange juice instead â and even held off serving it until we paid the difference. I explained it wasnât our fault, and eventually they waived the $1, but it left a bad impression.
At the end, the owner did admit he didnât realize the menu lists lemonade twice â but he didnât do anything to really make up for the poor experience or his attitude. Unfortunately, he came across as very arrogant and dismissive.
Plus, it was expensive for what it is â two drinks and sandwiches came to $48, which felt really overpriced given the service.
I wonât be coming back because good customer service matters just as much as good food and drinks.
Based off the previous reviews & owners response you can see the attitude...
