My cousin was in from out of town and we figured we would order in and then head out for drinks. My rommate suggested this place so we put an order in with just eats. Half an hour went by and we choose to wait another ten minutes. We finally called them at about fifty minutes and I was assured that our order was almost ready and would be on its way soon. An hour and fifteen minutes later - nothing. We had tried calling several times at this point and got no answer. We understood that it was a Friday night but still. So we finally reached someone and asked about getting some form of discount as our order was now an hour late (we had also ordered 60 dollars worth of food and understood that much on a Friday would be easily forty minutes). We were told that we would be given one, one, coupon for a free appetizer. When we pressed about more seeing as our order was now an hour and ten minutes, we were told there was no manager in on Friday evening. We were then told that the manager was driving the car and we could speak to him. Ten minutes later. Nothing. We waited an hour and a half and called again. We were told, again, that the driver was just ten minutes away. We said no thank you and cancelled our order. When we called after the one hour mark we were repeatedly told that it was ten minutes away. Never again. So disgusted and...

I ordered the Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box. I placed the order by phone at approximately 7pm, and by the time I picked it up and brought it home, it was about 7:20pm. The food was of very poor quality. The mizo soup was cold, the rice and salmon were also cold and the salmon was not fresh and seemed to be kinda dried out and over cooked. I had to heat the food and soup up in the microwave before eating it. When I called the restaurant to complain, the manager came on the line and was very disbeliving of my complaints and he was quite rude to me too. Saying that no other customer had ever complained about the food before, as well he insinuated that I was making it all up, basically called me a liar. He was very argumentative and rude. I did not even want or ask for a refund or anything like that. All I wanted was to let them know that the food was tasteless, cold and disappointing. However after speaking to the manager, I found that the customer service was even worse than the food. I am never going back to this restaurant, nor would I recommend this Kibo restaurant (at the St. Clair location) to anyone. I WOULD HAVE GIVEN ZERO STARS IN MY REVIEW IF THAT WERE AN OPTION. BEWARE.....UNBELIVABY...

Ordered online for the first time, wish I could give zero star. They messed up ur order like the other reviews said. Walked and picked up the order home found it was wrong order and then called the resto the male staff was extremely rude saying that it’s not their fault it’s because there were two customers with the same name ordered online and said it was our fault not to check the receipt. Yes I agreed we should have checked but when the cashier knew that there r two same names order u could have double checked with customers who came to pick up, not just busy about taking our money and not to check at all! The male server who picked up the phone said nothing but pointed at our nose on the phone and being loud to us saying that it’s not their fault said that it’s totally our responsibility and even told us send their sushi back as soon as possible. How ridiculous! First time getting some response like this without even an apology. U r offering online order for customers and u (the male staff who picked up the phone) think online order went wrong was all on us there’s nothing wrong with u? Can’t think of anything else to say but RIDICULOUS! First time also last time....

Friendly staff and meals served in a restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Food was tasty and well prepared. However I took a star off for authenticity. Most of my food was not Japanese. The chicken Karaage is more like Korean fried chicken. It was made completely of chicken white meat. Real Karaage is always thigh meat rolled in potato starch and is not usually served with dipping sauce. Kibo's karaage had the completely wrong flavor and texture. Same with the chicken yaki udon I was served, the flavor profile is completely wrong for a japanese dish, it was much closer to Korean noodles. While both dishes were well prepared and tasty, they were not Japanese. I'm not a food snob, but when I go to a Japanese restaurant, I kind of expect Japanese food.

Ordered the Weston Maki x2, the menu says 6 SIX pieces, the food comes and it’s only 5 pieces each, so I ask and the waitress says it’s 5. I show her the menu and she insists it’s 5, I refer to the menu again and she takes it away. Comes back and says the chef just cut it into 5 pieces which I don’t believe is true as the Kibo in Cabbagetown always gives me the correct portions. Additionally there’s a 10% discount if you pay cash, so I walk to the ATM before coming. Got here and get the total and ask about the sign with the 10% and she repeats the same total. So I ask AGAIN as I did the math and then she goes to a secondary register and applies the advertised discount. Last time coming to this Kibo, very weird vibes and service.

It was the worst experience with sushi that I had in Toronto. I ordered from UberEATS and it doesn't taste good, the appearance is horrible. Also My brother, who has seafood allergy, asked for a Philadelphia grande maki where the description says smoked salmon and avocado roll topped with cream cheese. Grande maki ten pieces. We received instead of it something with cucumber and crab meat. I call them and they was not prepared to lead with clients issues, saying that it is the Philadelphia and that the description there is old. Really? It is the restaurant responsibility to make sure with everything is correct. I'm really upset with it.
