I wish Google would have allowed for a less than one star rating as I would have used this to better illustrate my experience, for words are not my forte. I had a similar experience to Albert, in that I spent a whopping $7 for two croissants. My issue was not only with the product (that part of my review is baking right now), but the fact that their posted prices/menu had both the items I ordered listed at a completely different price than what I was charged at the till. When I politely inquired about this with the cashier, the boorish woman who served me the croissants intervened and tried asserting herself to make me, the humble patron, feel out of line for questioning this "on-the-fly" inflation policy. It was busy, she raised her voice and abruptly told me the prices were not to be questioned. As she expected, I didn't want to look ignorant, or frugal in front of trendy crowd at my heels so I packed it up, it was after all only a difference of $1 from what I expected to pay. And I did not go in there to purchase a Tim Hortons type product, mind you I would have received better customer service at the latter. So off I went to try these two delectable treats, $7 poorer but with a bag full of potential culinary wonder soon to be permeating my soon-to-be sophisticated palette by way of my gaping maw. I made only one stop at the local Starbucks and then there I was at home, hungry, thirsty, and $7 poorer, about to embark on my first Pain Perdu experience. My first croissant was...umm...The pastry was....The second one consisted of...It's texture was like...At this point my taste buds refused, as do I, to comment on something paid for under hooligan tactics. All I will say is this, I will never go back because that's just me - that's what I do. I write the truth and I pass consumer judgment. And had I shown up with my baby (and stroller) and seen the strict "No baby (Stroller)" policy sign posted on the front door, this review would be of a different tune - but we won't go there because I...

Read moreNice ambiance, small cafe feel. Marred by a brutish server/owner with a grizzly beard and overhanging gut. Had the coffee and was waiting on the chicken and mushroom quiche with a salad. Waited about 10-15 minutes and it wasn't even busy. Finally the two items arrived in the same plate. Sampled the quiche, and was about to sample the salad when...damn...I noticed the dead fly on the plate. An immediate turn off! Like what on earth?! It is the beginning of March, so where did the fly come from? I of course pointed it out to the brutish server/owner. He said "there are no flies in here", not a sorry or anything of that nature. He said he would replace the dish. Yeah right, scrape away the fly, rearrange the lettuce and bring the same thing back. No thanks. We left with his fond words of "we've got the best quiche in the city". Maybe so, but Pain Perdu also has an unclean kitchen, and...
