The actual space is fairly basic and looks unfinished, even to my eye, and I'm a modernist/ minimalist. However, the coffee is incredible. Expertly roasted (not sure if they're roasting themselves or buying from hatch or some other roaster). In my few experiences, the extractions have been excellent!

I will say it's expensive and the brighter, fruitier beans that I prefer can be VERY expensive. Like $9.00 for an espresso! In a 3rd wave shop, it's always a double, but still... very good espresso is available for around $3. That said, the $9.00 espresso is one of the best I've ever had. But I would not buy a $9 coffee every day! Good thing I don't live near any of their locations or go to OCAD anymore - otherwise, it could be tempting!

If you're serious about coffee, go and splurge. Their lesser coffees are also excellent. If you drink grocery store coffee or Starbucks, this place is not for you. You won't find it accessible and you won't see the value. The coffee is too expensive for someone who's okay with bitter brown water for dirt cheap, and it won't come with a green straw or branded cup that's recognizable from across the street (Starbucks customers) so you can appear to be from a higher class than the commoner that drinks Tim's. Tim Hortons actually has better coffee than Starbucks, for the most part (blonde roast is the only drinkable coffee at Starbucks)- but either place is for emergencies only! I mKe better coffee at home than they could ever imagine making at either.

If you're trying to get into coffee more seriously, go in and talk to the batistas at serious coffee shops like The Library. They'll have a lot to teach you, and they can help u find and understand which coffee is best for...

Just discovered this hidden gem on Queen Street - The Library Specialty Coffee is small in size but enormous in character and expertise.

Walking in, you're greeted by a minimalist space with limited seating, but what truly stands out is the exceptional service. I was fortunate to meet Alice, whose passion for coffee transcends mere customer service. When I inquired about their specialty beans (particularly an expensive option at $50/100g), she didn't rush to make a sale. Instead, Alice thoughtfully suggested I try it first, ensuring I'd appreciate the flavor profile before investing.

What impressed me most was her genuine concern that I make an informed decision - discussing grind options tailored to my brewing method and making sure my purchase would truly enhance my coffee experience. This wasn't transactional; it was a coffee education delivered with warmth and expertise. When I mentioned wanting to leave a review to recognize her outstanding service, her humble response of "I'm just trying to do my best, I'm actually very shy" only added to the charm of the entire experience.

The Library Specialty Coffee embodies what specialty coffee culture should be: knowledgeable, unpretentious, and genuinely caring. I'm already planning to visit their other locations, but this Queen Street spot with its remarkable staff has secured a permanent place in my coffee routine.

If you value substance over flash and appreciate being treated like a valued guest rather than just another customer, this little sanctuary is absolutely...

Was in the area and decided to give this little coffee shop a try. This being my first time, the serving barista recommended their signature Aussie cappuccino, and it was fantastic! Typically, I like my drinks sweeter (i.e., I usually order mochas), but the espresso they use has such a nice, full body and aroma that I had no complaints whatsoever; you can really taste the love and care they put into their drinks.

I'm usually one to stay away from franchises and like to try different mom and pop shops. That being said, this is one of the best coffees I've had in a while – highly recommend!

My only feedback is that there's very limited seating, which is understandable given the small space. If you're looking for a joint where you can sit and get some work done, this place may...
