Ok. There were two more restaurants in business in this location 1. Ghoroa Classic, 2. Kolapata and now this current restaurant 3. Lobongo opened.
I liked the Ghoroa classic and their ambience, decore and food.
so when we heard this new name on this same location, we thought lets try. so we drove from Mississauga to Scarborough. My hasband is very fond of roast polao. so we ordered roast , kalijira polao and for me shorisha ilish , kalijira polao, shabji and salad. so it took 40 min to drive there and we were so hungry so we were advised by their stuff over phone order in prior. so the ambience the same like same table chair, same bangladeshi map as Ghoroa classic had. but they redecore few area like payment counter and washing hand area.
so now food.: loved the shorisha ilish. as i was craving for it and hadnt had ilish fish for years. but i should have ordered steam rice instead of polao. vegtable was labra, this was also fine. the polao was kali jira polao but it wasnt that fancy it should be like the fragrance and freshness. we didnt find those. the kabab. we ordered 3 different kind but we only liked the Tuna kabab. worst is beef kaba. chicken kabab was ok. the roast: my husband didnt like the roast at all. he said it wasnt tasty and the gravy was not appealing to look at and not tasty. the onion was like looking at us. something was off.
the service: we find staff was helpful and they even customized our salad as my husband only eat cucumber as salad. they also warmed up my baby food. though we had to seat for 15 min to food come up on our tables even though we ordered prior. the funny thing was the table we have seated, beside that some elderly guy was sitting and listening our talk, so when my husband was like reckless for food and annoying me, i told him to drink water, but there was no water,..lol so the elderly personn brought the water. which is nice but somewhere uncomfortable as he can listen our conversation.
the seat: they have unequal seat arrangements on the right side sitting arrangment and if you sit there the proportion of table and chair is not good for back and very uncomfortable. i wish they have changed it.
washroom: its in the basement. didnt go though. their hand wash sink is on the same area where sitting arrangment.
so far the...
Read moreA Disappointing Experience at Lobongo Fine Dining
Lobongo Fine Dining, a restaurant specializing in Bangladeshi cuisine, had all the potential to impress with its authentic flavors and elegant ambiance. I walked in with high expectations, hoping to experience a blend of traditional tastes and top-notch service. Unfortunately, my visit turned out to be a frustrating and disappointing experience, primarily due to their terrible customer service.
A Promising Start, but a Frustrating Wait
To save time, I called ahead and placed my order 15 minutes before arriving at the restaurant. Given that it was a fine dining establishment, I expected efficient service, ensuring my meal would be ready or at least close to being served upon my arrival. However, as soon as I reached, I realized that my expectations were about to be shattered.
I patiently waited for 20 minutes, assuming they were making final preparations for my meal. Yet, as time passed, there was no update, no assurance, and worst of all—no staff member even acknowledged the delay. The lack of communication was extremely unprofessional.
No Response, No Apologies
After a total of 35 minutes of waiting, I still had no food on my table, nor did I receive any explanation regarding the delay. It was as if my order had vanished into thin air. The restaurant staff didn’t bother to check on me or provide any kind of update. This level of negligence was unacceptable for a restaurant that claims to be “fine dining.”
A Disappointing End to the Visit
Frustrated and hungry, I had no choice but to leave the restaurant without even getting my food. Not once did the staff try to apologize or make amends for the poor service. It was clear that customer satisfaction was not a priority for them.
Final Verdict
While Lobongo Fine Dining may have a promising menu, its awful customer service completely ruined my experience. A restaurant is not just about food; it’s about the overall experience, and this establishment failed miserably in that regard. If they don’t improve their service standards, they risk losing more customers who, like me, value respect and efficiency just as much as good food.
Would I recommend this place? Absolutely not—unless you have the patience to wait endlessly without...
Read moreProbably one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had in my life. Here is the breakdown:
FOOD: Fuchka: filling was refrigerator temperature and was stale (the onion had started to release juices) and had gotten sour Butter chicken: sweeter than laddu, and the chicken couldn’t even be cut with a knife. They were hard like rocks, and likely because the dish was prepared a few days ago and microwaved multiple times. The gravy had developed a dark film on top (not an oil film, which would have been more understandable). Inedible Haleem: Not a haleem, was beef curry with daal. Bitter in taste. Tea: couldn’t even get that right. The worst tea I’ve had at any bangladeshi restaurant Polao: good. Tehari: Edible, but not the best I’ve had. Naan: if you can’t get naan right, I’ve got no hopes. The inside of the naan was raw dough, and the top was crusty/crispy. That’s not what a naan is, even if it’s prepared poorly. I don’t know what bread they made/I ate.
SERVICE: Staff were generally courteous Asked for spoons and napkins. Didn’t get it until we asked for a third time Placed the order separately in the table (just 4 people) and clarified they were separate orders, but the final bill was given as one. The very basic training of servers includes considerations such as asking if the bill should be combined or separate. Please train your staff professionally. Giving them bow ties and vests doesn’t make it “Fine Dining”
Atmosphere: Biye Bari style table and chairs, but most of them are falling apart. I appreciate them trying to do something different though.
I truly hope this feedback is read by the owners and I genuinely wish you the best and that you succeed, as a Bangladeshi.
It was on a day they had an event going on in the main hall and we were asked to sit in the “event hall”. The whole experience may have been because they were distracted by the bigger event; but that’s something a restaurant should learn to manage. Overall, we felt robbed and it hurt to pay what we paid. Will likely never visit again, or recommend to...
