One of the best places for salad bowls in the city. My friends and I were aching to try some of the restaurants on ossington and we were so lucky to stumble on Mandy’s. There was a lot of hype on social media regarding this restaurant and I was really excited to try this place. It is in a quaint location on ossington with a nice patio for both large and small groups. The inside was astonishingly designed. It’s a great place to come with friends or if you want to get work done as well. There was a little bit of a lineup but it was so worth it. They have a system in place where once you order, they give you a number and they come to your table to serve you (regardless if you are in the patio or inside).
We got the Cesar salad and the vegetable protein bowl along side an açai berry smoothie. The service was really fast and all the staff there were really helpful and kind. The Cesar salad had a lovely taste to it and the salad was so fresh that each bite contained some crunch with their pita chips. The vegetable protein bowl was delicious and I highly recommend it. The quinoa mixed with the avocado and the kale made the mix taste superb. The dressing elevated the taste of the bowl to the next level. The bowls were gigantic and made us feel really full after the meal but not to the point where we felt heavy. To add to the mix, the açai berry was blended really well and it was definitely worth the buy.
I loved this restaurant and I would definitely come back to try the other items on the menu. Besides the salad, they also have other little drinks, snacks, chocolate, fresh baked desserts. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone as I believe it is...
Read moreWe had heard about this place through a friend from Montreal and I must say that IT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT!
The vibe is edgy while being very inviting. The staff are extremely friendly without being in-your-face while you are in the midst of eating. Ossington is without a doubt the place to hang out these days. This old man (me) might have stuck out, but for some strange reason, I/we just blended right in.
Now let's talk about the food. Portions are very generous without being "American-Sized". the best part about their food is that it can satisfy you and fill you up without making you feel bloated. The ingredients are so fresh that they immediately capture your attention as your mouth processes all the taste layers and textures. LOVED the plant protein in my Peanut Satay Salad! Will definitely do that one over again. My partner had the Wile Sage bowl and could not finish it.
Interesting note. The tables all have a water carafe with fresh water at room temp. Believe it or not, this is the best way to drink water, for health reasons.
Tip of the hat to the store manager who was so kind. We had a lovely quick chat with her to find out more about the "Mandy story". Super highly recommend. It is not a cheap place but neither expensive, Great fresh food comes at a price and in this case, had...
Read moreOur experience at this restaurant was a complete mess from start to finish. The ordering and seating system on the patio is utterly chaotic. We waited and observed how things worked before going inside to order, thinking it would help, but it didn’t. We told one of the staff members that we’d be sitting outside, but no number was given and they completely forgot about us and our order until we reminded them.
When they finally brought the food out, the woman told us that people were waiting to sit down and we needed to move. Excuse me? We had been waiting for our food the whole time! She said we should have told them we were sitting outside, but we DID. And even if we hadn’t, why would it matter if we preferred to eat our meal on the patio in takeout containers?
The whole process is disorganized and makes no sense. They have no hostess or system to manage seating, and communication between staff is clearly lacking.
To top it off, the food was terrible. My sister ordered greens as an extra and instead got frozen brown rice, inedible and clearly a mistake. We ended up asking for a refund, which thankfully we got.
I genuinely don’t understand the hype about this place. You can get a better, fresher, and cheaper salad elsewhere without the headache. Definitely not worth the hype...
