If there were an award for the worst restaurant experience of the year, Manek Chowk Restaurant would win it hands down. I donât even know where to begin with how utterly horrible everything wasâfrom the pathetic service to the disgraceful food. Iâm honestly baffled at how this place has 4,000+ reviews, but more on that later.
Letâs start with the waiting time. We ordered pani puri, and I swear we waited 20 minutes for six miserable puris that tasted like someone soaked them in gutter water. It was uglyâI donât use that word lightly. The flavor was beyond bad, the texture was soggy, and it felt like theyâd been sitting there for hours. There was no freshness, no taste, just a sour, stomach-churning mess that made me instantly regret stepping foot in this place.
After that disaster, we ordered a paneer sandwich thinking maybe that would redeem the experience a little. Nope. Fifty minutes later, we finally got a cold, sloppy excuse of a sandwich that had barely any paneer and tasted like cardboard with mayo. Absolutely ridiculous. What kind of kitchen takes nearly an hour to toast some bread and slap on a couple of fillings?
The staff? Miserable. Every single person working there looked like they hated their life. Not one smile, not one greeting. Just blank stares and cold shoulders. Itâs like theyâre doing you a favor by serving you food you didnât even want anymore by the time it showed up. You get the vibe instantlyâno one wants to be there, neither the employees nor the customers. I counted just six other people in the restaurant and STILL everything was delayed. What are they even doing back there?
And hereâs the kickerâthose 4,000+ glowing reviews? Donât trust them. This place shamelessly bribes customers with free peri peri fries if they leave a positive review. Thatâs right. So all those five-star ratings you see? Fake as hell. Just people lured in by free fries and guilt-tripped into lying. If youâre reading this and thinking âbut the reviews look good,â let me stop you right there: donât be fooled.
I left this place with a headache and a stomach full of regret. This wasnât just bad, it was the worst dining experience Iâve had in years. Manek Chowk Restaurant should be avoided like the plague. Thereâs no heart in the food, no care in the service, and no honesty in how they operate.
Save your time, save your tastebuds. Go literally...
Read moreMost of the glowing reviews are blatantly fake. They dangle a pathetic bribeâa measly portion of free peri peri friesâin exchange for positive ratings.
Now, letâs talk about the food. It crawls out of the kitchen at a snailâs pace. Any further delay and it would have arrived half-frozen.
As for the cutlery, their plates are so cheap and flimsy they wobble like a circus act. Youâd be better off bringing your own paperweights to keep your meal from sliding off.
The service counter features a girl whose attitude can best be described as downright vileâsheâll make you feel like something she scraped off her shoe.
If you dare to order more than one item, expect each dish to arrive at ten-minute intervals, as though youâre being drip-fed disappointment on a conveyor belt.
They donât accept Amexâtypical of budget eateriesâbut hilariously, their prices are nowhere near âbudget.â They cut corners everywhere except on your bill.
Regret is the only thing that filled me after enduring this excuse for a meal.
To the staff: you might want to wash the salt and pepper containers once in a blue moon. The crusted filth of dried ketchup and chutney stuck to the bottom is revolting.
And a final word of warningâif youâre foolish enough to order the dahi puri, be prepared to sprint straight to the dental clinic next door. The rock-solid freezing curd will annihilate your teeth and leave you begging for...
