DISGUSTING, DISCUSTING, DISCUSTING! I had the most unpleasant experience in this restaurant. On the weekend, I came and purchased a two piece meal. When I came in, I noticed that one of the staff members was wearing a bandage/compression wrap, around her entire hand, went in the washroom and came out and started preparing our food. I was shocked and beyond livid. BEYOND! I should have said something but didn’t because the store was full, I didn’t want to make a scene and I was fuming. I knew for a fact that once I started, it would not be good - people would either walk out, or ask for their money back. Anyhow, I left the store and threw the food in the garbage. I could not eat that knowing she was. I was very angry and leaving was the best decision at that moment. So while walking home, I called the restaurant and asked for the manager to call me when she’s in. The next day, I spoke to the manager. She said she’d talk to her staff and call me back. Almost a week passed and the manager never called me back. Unprofessional at its finest. So I decided to go in today and speak to her. She told me that she spoke to her staff and her staff said she didn’t use washroom, she did a regular scheduled bathroom check. Irregardless, of whether she cleaned the washroom or used the washroom, that’s disgusting. Going to do bathroom checks or maintenance WHILE wearing a band aid wrap, and then going to prepare customers’ food is absolutely disgusting. Anyhow, of course, when I expressed this, the unprofessional manager was arguing with me and made every effort to speak over me. I told her that as a manger, she shouldn’t be continuing to argue with me and speaking loudly over me. Did she stop? Not a chance. She continued being unprofessional in-front of her staff. She kept showing me the bathroom check schedule on her clipboard and kept telling me her staff didn’t use it. Does that matter though? Her staff went in the room where humans rid their bodily waste. That makes NO difference. Band aid wraps harbour germs and should NOT be worn while preparing food. Every restaurant establishment knows this. Anyhow, towards the end a customer came in while the manager was unprofessionally arguing with me, and I deliberately repeated what happened and expressed how angry I was, and you know what happened? The customer walked out. It looked really bad on the manager and the store. Imagine if I had done this that day they were busy. Point proven. Overall, this store displays poor food handling and hygiene practices, and has an unprofessional manager....
Read moreI hadn't been to Mary Browns in years. The only locations I knew where usually in Durham. I'm very happy I decided to check it out. The big Mary's chicken sandwich is quite possibly the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. The chicken is better than KFC or Popeye's by far. If you haven't had Mary Browns before I seriously recommend giving it a try.
Update: I've always been happy with my food from Mary Brown's but feel I need to add something. The Pickle Chips. These are great, and a very tasty addition to the menu. However, the serving size for the price is embarrassing. It's not one of those things where you say "Oh you don't get many", but rather you look at it and feel like you actually got ripped off. When I ordered them it was $4.19. Know what I got for that? 10-12 pickle slices. An entire jar of pickles is $2.97 right now at no frills. I don't expect a jar of pickles with my order and realize there needs to be profit and the labour that goes into frying them up. But the serving is so small you are left feeling like you got played. Great menu item as far as flavor but the price for the serving size should literally...
Read moreWent here and ordered before a quarter after 9pm and asked for dine-in. Was told by the girl at the cash their dine-in is closed right now even though the store hours are clearly marked it's open til 10pm. They were trying to push out other customers sitting there too just so they can close early while posting different store hours which is misleading their customers.
I presented a coupon code from the survey offer from their receipt done from previous visit to Mary Brown's and the cashier was telling me they can't accept that because my order was already a promo item on sale. Seriously???
Going cheap like these kind of tactics is a poor approach at trying to get a customer to return with such cheapness on their part like that.
Don't believe the fake 5 star reviews here.
Won't be visiting back to this location after this and don't recommend this location to others based on their poor customer service representation here. Rather go to the location on Pharmacy/Ellesmere, where their staff are...
