Room for Improvement in Taste and Atmosphere. The Maurya Restaurant has a nice menu, but unfortunately, the taste of their dishes leaves much to be desired. I found the roti dishes to be okay, but there's definitely room for improvement. I ordered paneer makhani and vegetable corma, and both gravies lacked flavor and were disappointingly similar. The chicken biryani lacked the authentic biryani flavor and seems to be prepared half hartedly, as all the rice and gravy was mixed too much, making it seems like a fried chicken rice. The atmosphere was cozy, but the lack of a filter between the kitchen and dining area made it feel more like a take-out place. Although It has good potential for dine in. On a positive note, our server was very friendly and warm, deserving of praise. Overall, while the portion sizes offer value for money, the taste could be much better. Improvement in both taste and atmosphere is needed.

Good Indian food. Butter chicken and biriyani. These are my calibration points for judging Indian restaurants. I tried both here, lamb biriyani and butter chicken. They were excellent interpretations of those dishes. Lamb biriyani was more south Indian style and similar to how Madras households would cook. Butter chicken was good, the interpretation favoured the butteriness over the tomatoes. I've tried the samosa too. It came with a chutney. Moist, nicely spiced filling, and flaky pastry. Service is excellent. Interior is decently decorated. Staff are friendly. Menu has some interesting fusion dishes like butter chicken wraps and poutines. Having found the butter chicken and the biriyani to be good, I'm confident enough to give the other items a try. If an Ondian restaurant does those two dishes well, you can be sure the kormas, tikkas, and curries will be good.

As we sat down after ordering our food we listened to two total strangers get to know each over through their common interest; their love for this place. One guy confessed that he used to live in the area and just drove an hour away for their butter chicken roti. The other guy admitted he needed more thumbs to just to praise their food properly. This was our third time eating here so we too knew how tasty it was. Ordering food in roti form is common practice here and so is take out, although we enjoy eating in. Their roti is light and fresh and generously filled with whatever you want. I enjoy all their vegan options, always leaning towards the spinach and potato. My husband sides with the rest, their butter chicken roti over all the meats is best. Everything is flavourful and their spicy is are delicious too. Five stars.

I have lived in the neighborhood for a number of years now and wanted to try an Indian food restaurant near where I lived. I've walked by this place a number of times but finally decided to go in and place an order for takeout to see what it was like. BIG MISTAKE!! The minute you walk in the door, the first thing you noticed was that all the prices have been blacked out on the menu over the order counter. You have to wonder. They have a QR code at each of the tables where you can tap your phone to get the menu. Not impressed! Placed my order. It came to almost $30. I ordered butter, chicken with rice and a second dish which was so bad, I’ve forgotten the name.

Well, when I got the order home, I realized it wasn't buttered chicken with rice I ordered, but rice with some butter chicken and the second item, which I don't remember what it was, was dry and tasteless. Quantities of the main item ordered were VERY small but with LOTS of filler. If you're looking for Indian food, good quality, good quantities, I strongly recommend you go somewhere else!

Unfortunately, after the fact I decided to check out Google reviews on this place. Apparently, there are six or seven of these in Southern Ontario and interestingly enough, all locations seem to have identical or very close to identical star reviews. In each case the locations are either 4.3 or 4.4. bottom line I find that suspicious. I also noticed while looking at the reviews that every single review response from the owners is a boilerplate identical response that tells me they haven't bothered to read the reviews and address them specifically and just sent out the same response every time or almost every time.

This was a long time coming.....rude and hostile staff, inconsistent food and nil customer service is what this place has grown to. For a friend's surprise B'day party had a big take-out order and tried to get it delivered, the guy who was taking our order said they don't deliver anymore. Requested politely (twice) to deliver our order since we were located just two blocks away from their restaurant and the guy got agitated and asked if we wanted to cancel our order. Blah! Which restaurant/food-joint says that to a customer, that too TWICE? Frankly the guy has no idea on how to talk to customers and has no training whatsoever on taking big orders over the phone. When I replied rather sarcastically the second time about having no choice but to order, the guy said OK and we agreed to have it picked up. 30-35 minutes later one of our friends goes to pick up the order and to our surprise the restaurant says we never placed an order. "Big face-palm moment". The experience left a sour taste and ruined our friend's birthday surprise. Me and my friends have been a regular at this place ever since it first opened it's doors and the food and service has deteriorated since. Not returning after this...

I'm not going to lie, this place doesn't have the best curb appeal. But it's a hidden gem as far as take out goes. This is my go to place hangover food when I stay at my condo in Parklawn. I would recommend anyone in the mood for Indian takeout to try this place. It is by far the best Indian food I've ever had. The chicken briyani comes with boneless pieces that are so flavorful and juicy, the whole dish is a huge portion, perfect for 2-3 people. The butter chicken is rich with flavor with boneless pieces as well, perfect match with the briyani. I've also tried the samosa chaat from here, it's very good, I would recommend eating this first because it does tend to get soggy if you let it sit for to long. If someone is vegetarian, I would recommend getting the saag paneer - it is very creamy spinach. I've also gotten garlic roti - I'm not a huge fan of roti but the garlic roti from Maurya made me change my mind about roti. Overall I would say food is incredible. Price-wise is much better than many other Indian restaurants. The customer service is ok, the girl that was working there was very patient with me. The parking in that area is kind of weird, not the best, especially if you have a...
