Just moved into the area and decided to try out some local restaurants.
September 22, 2016: My wife ordered takeout by calling in the evening with the order Khao Soi Beef and Thai Basil Noodle Veggies & Tofu. My wife being vegetarian noted on the website that egg was also in the dish. Reading this she made it a point to note that she did not want egg in her dish. I arrived shortly thereafter to pick up the order, paid and departed back. Upon arriving home I opened the Khao Soi everything looked all good. Wife opens the Thai Basil Noodle Veggie and Tofu package and immediately notices the egg. She calls the restaurant and explains the situation and they advise a new one will be ready when we arrive (they also ask if we are bringing the meal back as if we had any use for it). My wife reassured the restaurant we would be returning with the original dish. Upon my arrival the gentleman at the front counter who may have been the manager (I won't post name that appears on the receipt) proceeds to tell me that he checked with the staff and that my wife did not say "no egg" in the most condescending manner. It being late in the evening I'm 50-50 on whether to argue with this gentleman or err on the side of practicality. I'm hungry and what use would arguing be? Especially considering they were replacing the dish with no egg it seemed pointless. I stare at the gentleman, smile and he instructs me to sit down and wait for my food. I return home, we eat and all is well.
September 27, 2016: Wife, and I decide to return chalking up the first encounter as a simple miscommunication. We are greeted in politely and served promptly. We order from the lunch menu with the order being Chicken Pad Thai for me and Green Curry Vegetables and Tofu. I won't post the name of the name appearing on the receipt again as I'm a firm believer people make mistakes and should not be ridiculed for making them. The server did not recite the order back to us and seemed to be in his own world. We also confirmed with the server after last weeks debacle no egg in the dish to which he nods his head. We even laugh at last weeks debacle thinking how ridiculous it would be if something like that happened again. The meals arrive and I being eating and my wife pulls something out of her mouth that did not appear to be a vegetable. My wife gives it to me on her form and sure enough it's not egg it's chicken. The server was notified and initially offered no apologies and took the dish to the kitchen. The server returned with the replacement meal which we asked to be boxed up so we could leave and at this point is when he explains it was his error and he apologized.
My wife and I traveled Thailand (Bangkok, Phi Phi Islands, Phuket) and not one restaurant in our two months there mixed up our veggie order for a meat order and English is not even their first language there.
The aggravating factor is it's very likely on September 22, 2016 the individual working the front counter who spoke to me in the most condescending manner failed to realize that it was likely his staff that did make the mistake with the order.
Normally people say this is the first and last time but for us this was the second time and the last time.
To give the restaurant credit where it belongs the food is exquisite, decor and cleanliness is great. I can only assume this was a coincidence that we experienced the same issue twice and that this restaurant is actually a great establishment. Unfortunately I won't be returning...
Read moreCame with a group of 15 late at night after a walk. They were closing in an hour, and one of the staff warned us that we'll have to order quickly because last call is in 20 minutes and restaurant is closing in less than an hour.
It's quite a large restaurant, as they have taken over two units. The washrooms are in the basement, and it's a long walk down a corridor to the other end. Can feel quite sketchy.
Since it was late, the restaurant was mostly empty. The staff pushed some tables together so that everyone can sit together. We ended up staying past 10, and they didn't rush us out.
The menu is quite large. Rice dishes, noodle dishes, curry dishes, meat dishes, vegetable dishes, and so on. Interestingly enough, several of the most popular dishes on the menu used descriptions such as
"Number 1 Ranked to be World's Most Delicious foods by CNN" "One of the famous Thai dishes in United States"
The thai iced tea and thai iced coffee are quite a steal at $2.50 for a large cup. Would be nice if they didn't have so much ice though; perhaps that can be customized if you mentioned.
I ordered the Massaman curry with beef, and I would say it was quite good. Very light flavor, with a little heat. Some others said it was too bland or not spicy enough, but I thought it was pretty good for my tastebuds. One issue I had was the curry doesn't come with rice; you'll have to order it...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I had dinner here yesterday. The menu options are ample and appetizing. The place is clean and cozy, tucked into the end of a small plaza with windows looking onto a park and lakeside promenade. Then things got worse.
The male waiter was polite, accommodating and attentive at first, explaining the food options and ingredients very well... until we placed the order that is.
Our waiter did not bother to check in with us whether the food we received (the food was delivered by someone else) was OK. Which would have been helpful 'cause it was not. A main ingredient was missing in one of the dishes and we had to flag down another busy waitress for help and then wait until the dish was fixed.
When it came time to take our leftovers, our inattentive waiter gave us flip top takeout containers meant for dry food (our dishes were saucy curries). Needless to say, it all spilled into the bag.
Lastly, one bathroom was out of order (the ladies one) and the male bathroom had neither hand towels nor a hand dryer. So in case a customer chooses the hygienic route and washes his/her hands (as we all should after we go) the customer is stuck using toilet paper to dry off - Not befitting any restaurant that has a pretense of...
