Ordered the special $5 coffee + empanada and one additional empanada. Total came to around $9. Then I walked over to view the menu which is awkwardly hanging over the tables where people eat and then decided on just staying with my current order. The guy working there was low energy didn't show any interest or pride in their restaurant.
As a business owner I like to support other local businesses so I try to pay cash everytime to help maximize profit for the business (avoid merchant fees for owner and tip).
When I walked back to the till to pay, I realized I had only $100 bills and asked the person if they rather me pay with that or debit. He couldn't break the 100 so I stuck my card in and the bill came up to $14+. I pulled my card out and asked why the bill jumped up so high. The other person working there asked if I added a tip, I said no.
Then they looked at the clover machine and said "I don't know how this happened". I guess he forgot that there is a display on the other side of the machine that updates in real time š¤£
I've used these machines before and they are not programmed to remove a line item and add a different one when clients step back from the machine š . Normally I would give the benefit of the doubt but clearly they're trying to scam me for a few extra bucks. If they want to charge these prices just take down the promotional poster and you can charge as you please.
Food: the cheese empanada was just ok. Slightly less average amount of cheese than other places. The spicy chicken empanada tasted like jerk chicken which was unexpected but good.
The black Colombian coffee was fresh and good as well.
The bad taste was just the service. Definitely never...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately the service was unfriendly and the food was a letdown. The ONE single menu on the table, was inconvenient, we all had the take turns ordering. The staff a poker face make standing by our table, waiting for us to order, made the experience even more unpleasant. He was the cook, dishwasher,(washed /clean/dry our plate with a hand paper towel), cashier and persona tending to customers with a short temper. We ordered the goat, the chicken and rice, the fish, the ceviche, and plantains, but the food was not freshly prepared and was instead NUKED in the microwave. I observed the cook heat the food. The chicken was dry, the plantains were rubbery, the rice was watery, the ceviche tasted as it had been thawed and mixed in watery lime. To make matters worse two of us felt ill few hours later:( Letās say the cook was also the dishwasher and the microwave was the REAL star of the show! All the food came fast! I wish I could recommend this place, but...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFriendly staff. Came in and asked for two of the BEST dishes. I did not research this place, I came for Jerk Chicken and it was closed but they share a space so I thought I would try it out! They did not give me the two best items, but the two easiest to prepare and expensive dishes. The Chicken dish was dry and overcooked, no sauces or anything really. The rice was also dry and tasteless. The goat stew dish was the same thing, but it tasted like it had gone sour. They offered to exchange the dishes, but I drove down there and I donāt want to drive back out. Iām usually not one to waste food, but I couldnāt force myself to eat.
EDIT: Somebody reached out to me and offered me a refund and I thought that was nice. It may have been a one off occasion where I just got a poorly made batch, which...
