Update : The restaurant owner responded by clearly stating that I was lying. What a shame! Why would I do this? While I was saying that I was lying, you called my friend who made the reservation yesterday and said, "Let's make up for our mistake, please remove the comment." Instead of covering up the facts, my advice to you is to correct yourself. And this is my first time writing a review for a Turkish restaurant. Even though I'm normally not very happy with this, I don't prefer to write privately. I'm all for being constructive, but you even accuse your own people of lying. Instead of learning from mistakes, you don't want to hear the truth when told. Did you tell your waiter that you can't force people to ask for tip like this? I wish you luck in life with your rude waiter and thank you for your rude behavior. I wish you didn’t have to write this!
For the first time in my life, I did not tip on a place, the Ukrainian waiter was not friendly or sympathetic at all, she was not smiling at all but that is not the reason why I did not tip. I gave her $100 for my $68 fee, and she told me it wasn't change. She said it was only $20. The atmosphere was so quite, we were the only ones there and she wanted to take something compulsory for herself this evening... There may not be money in the safe, but the solution should not be to tell the customer this. I told her it was not my problem and she arranged the money and came. So it happens whenever you want it. I would never want to have an employee like this . I wish you were friendly and didn't try to force anyone on me, so I could give you so much more!! I think the menu is NOT sufficient. You have a drink menu but no mixed appetizers and snacks. I experienced this problem for the first time in a place I went to. It is neither like a restaurant nor a pub, it is stuck in between, there is Adana kebab, grilled fish, okra🤔 there is nothing to buy mixed! I ordered shrimp pan, it wasn't enough for a snack, I wanted to order pasta but they didn't have that either. Kazandibi was bad, you shouldn't sell it as Kazandibi. came in different sizes for everyone and cinnamon definitely had to be our preference!!! None of the rice in the restaurant are served with noodles, the fried calamari portion is definitely insufficient and the calamari is the size of a second class! You sell everything at above average prices, I have no objection to that, but then you need to know how to appeal to the eye first and then the palate. Frankly, my feeling about everything that came to the table was that it lacked presentation skills. A series of carelessly prepared dishes. It is really sad that it has not become a place worthy of its name, it is a very beautiful authentic building but unfortunately I felt that the management was weak.
Unfortunately, this is the first time I am writing a review for a Turkish place because I do not have high-level expectations. Everyone can be understanding towards each other, but unfortunately this is the truth. If it wasn't for the last mistake the waiter made, I still wouldn't complain about anything else, I wouldn't write it in a comment.
Anyway, I don’t think I will go again and...
Read moreHorrible experience. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND. Reasons listed below:
1.) Seating is awful- I came with a party of 3 and they seated us at a table for 2. I told our waiter (1 of 4, because literally we were served by 4 different ppl- super confusing) that the seating is not appropriate for 3 ppl and he went to get the manager, who came back to say that all the seats were reserved. Later I found out that most of the seats were reserved 2-3 hours after our reservation (our reservation was at 7pm). Essentially there was no effort to accommodate despite there being availability.
2.) Racially biased. One of the reasons I selected this restaurant was to support cultural cuisine (outside of typical Canadian food). It’s so disappointing to be the only black ppl, seated in the back corner, with uncomfortable seating, and basically meant to feel like an outsider. When I looked around everyone was Turkish or possibly of white European descent. I’m sorry but if you are going to be discriminatory towards other races and cultures in a MULTICULTURAL city, open a restaurant in a predominately Turkish neighbourhood.
3.) The food is wayyy overpriced for such small portions. Ordered the salmon is was so small and super dry.
All in all, will NEVER come back to this place. If you identify as a POC, who is not of Turkish descent or white, you are certainly not welcomed. The feeling of being unwanted is palpable and...
Read moreDO NOT EAT HERE unless you feel like paying an extra $15 +tax per person, on top of inflated pricing for food.
Had dinner with a group of friends (6 ppl total) and on top of drinks and food they charged $90 +tax for the live music. It isn't bad but it is so loud it is more a club than a restaurant; no conversation can be had while eating. The music is good and musicians deserve to be paid, yes, but we were not informed about the cover charge until the bills came and they slipped the cost in
We asked if the fee shows up on their website and the waitress said yes but we have checked and there is no information about the live music or the cost charged
When we made a reservation we were not informed about the more than $100 extra charge, when we arrived we weren't warned, and when we ordered we weren't warned. They wait until you're paying to put it in the bill that they barely give you time to glance at before handing you the payment machine
This is a disgusting practice of lying to your customers - by omission and outright.
For the food, there are some good dishes, but even those are overpriced for the portion and amount of meat. The grill meals come with maybe a handful of rice and flavourless steamed vegetables you can buy frozen and microwave yourself.. all for $30 pre tax and music charge...
