Have come here several times over the last few years, be it for takeout during the peak of COVID, dinners with friends and family, or even to throw parties using their restaurant as the venue, and their food/staff for in-restaurant catering. There's good reason for this of course; the food is always flavorful and consistent, and the service is friendly through and through.
The owner of the restaurant is extremely accommodating so if you're looking for a place to throw a holiday party, consider local staples like this place for food/location! The chain restaurants will always be around and will always have business but staple restaurants of the junction like North of Bombay have literally been in The Junction since 1989, and we need to ensure they can continue for as long of a time as possible.
I planned a surprise party with the help of the owner so that the guests in attendance got to eat from a set menu (served family style) for a set price per person. The food was served seamlessly, and the portions were extremely generous! We all left feeling like we needed a nap due to eating ourselves into food comas haha
The owner was also kind enough to take care of chargjng each attendee individually which removed that responsibility for me, and I genuinely appreciated it. If you're curious, the following is what we created as the set menu for this party in question (and yes, everything was delicious):
•vegetable samosas •onion bhajias •spring rolls (that were delicious and thrown in for free) •cucuber raita (best out there) •saffron/plain rice •garlic (my personal favorite)/plain naan •butter chicken •paneer makhani (aka butter paneer//another personal favorite) •chana masala •aloo gobi masala
📝Give this place a try with a group so that you can order a few dishes and split the cost! You'll likely leave with a full stomach and possibly even leftovers due to the...
Read moreMy husband and I LOVE this restaurant!!! The food is flavourful and tasty with a certain kind of goodness and freshness to it that makes you feel amazing! The atmosphere is great: peaceful and cozy, yet special, unique and romantic at the same time! The room is spacious, and even when full with people, the conversations are on the quiet side and the background soft music and warm lights create a feel-good-je-ne-sais-quoi-ambiance. We have recently had a family celebration and some of our family and friends experienced Indian food for the first time, so we were a bit concerned and curious to see what their impression would be. At the end of the evening they were full of praise (along with our whole group, children included!) and I think that the amazing food, as well as the wonderful staff and the way they took care of us had a lot to do with making their first-time-experience and our evening a very successful one! I have been going to Indian restaurants most of my adult life and I believe this may be THE ONLY ONE where, when you ask for a MILD dish, it IS MILD! The children were soo happy with their mild butter chicken! And if you ask for medium-spiced aloo gobi masala, it is deliciously so! Plus they serve dairy free and gluten free dishes! Plus the restaurant is open every day of the week! There are so many perks to this lovely place that it makes it impossible not to fall in love with it! All in all, a wonderful service, deliciously flavoured-filled-with-goodness food, great style and character, great impression, amazing feeling! THANK YOU for creating an inspiring evening for us every time...
Read moreI came in for a late dinner (last customer served of the night) as I was craving Indian, some of my favourite flavours. I ordered 2 very "simple" dishes, veg samosas and channa masala. I can't even explain how happy I was. The avocado coriander sauce was so brilliantly bright, and the tamarind sauce was balanced in sweetness and spice so beautifully. To serve the samosas with fresh cucumber, tomato and onion created this amazing melody in my mouth. The channa masala was perfect. Light, beautiful flavours that I could taste through a sauce that was herb forward not heavily acidic from the tomato like others I've had. The chickpeas were soft and lovely, married with perfectly cooked rice despite being the last customer of the night. These guys just make awesome food!!!! The service was also great. My server never let my water go empty and was super sweet even though I knew she was closing up. I'm sad that I'm leaving Toronto next week, because I'd be a regular. If you appreciate true flavour, it will be delivered. Thank you North of Bombay....
