Why can't I give this 0 stars? NEVER GO HERE. I'm a newcomer to Canada but been to 5-6 pubs already & it's the first place where other Customers TOUCH YOUR THINGS & PLAY WITH THEM & the staff supports these 'funny' games to play nice to old patrons even though new, potentially-loyal customers will be harassed. It was my 1st visit & all was okay & bartender was friendly till after I paid my bill & found that I lost my $20 ski gloves. & remember it was deadly cold & past midnight. The bartender Aileen/Alina turned nasty & said I should take care of my stuff & when I said they could at least help, she ASKED ME TO LEAVE. Of course, this was after I had given her a decent tip so it showed her colours.
I had found another customer playing with my gloves earlier, when I came back from the washroom. He was WEARING MY GLOVES & talking to his friends & I requested them back. While I was leaving, I found that the party from the table behind me had taken my Toque to their table. When I took it back, they started laughing & heckling. When I was asking for my gloves, that same party were still laughing & 1 lady from their party said they had my gloves THEN SHE ASKED HER FRIENDS TO RETURN THEM & APPARENTLY THEY SAID 'NO' & SHE CAME BACK & SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE THEM. The manager/bouncer had come & saw all this & even though he saw the other table openly laughing & claiming they had my gloves, he asked me to leave. He tried being 'reasonable' outside. A staff member came out of the blue when I was outside & said they had found my gloves. The manager went in, came back & AGAIN said no, they didn't have them. So it was clear to me that the STAFF ganged up with those 'Funny' customers & hid/stole my stuff. He just kept asking me to call back the next day. I did call the next day but surprise, surprise, they hadn't found my gloves.
SUMMARY: Not only I lost my $20 gloves in the dead of winter, I was made a part of a joke by the other patrons + staff, which is worse than losing gloves. Plus the staff was extremely rude with the aggrieved party.
CONCLUSION: Avoid this place unless you want to be HARASSED for being new or your...
Read moreVisited Sunday Feb 16. I wanted to to take the family out to a place that wasn't a big chain restaurant and support a local business. The building itself is cool. It's an old, stone house. You can almost picture what it might have been like to live there when it was first built. Pretty cool. The quality of the food I would say was good. It all tastes good. Wife had chicken pad Thai I believe it was called. Was good. Kids had burgers and chicken fingers and fries. I had this sandwich with thin sliced beef on a crusty bun with I believe an aoli, au jus for dipping and fries. I will say the fries were ok. They are home cut but extremely dark, at first I thought they were burnt but were ok. Just not nice to look at. My meal which cost $18 said on the menu that this was a big sandwich and I thought being that price that it was going to be big but can't say it was, I was surprised to see they offered it in a half size...half of that would be a snack. The meat inside was also not very hot. It did taste really good however and the meat was very tender. Service was ok. Drinks were replenished , good thing as cups are pretty small. We did have to wait a very long time for our food. And our bill. A little bit more attention would have been good. Left a 19% tip because the waiting, the cold meat on the sandwich also because there was a pool table in our room and kids were messing around with it and repeatedly dropped the pool cues and kept hitting the balls off the table. That's the parents responsibility to control kids but also employees have a responsibility to keep the atmosphere more of an old stone cottage pub and not a chuck-e-cheese. Would I return? Possibly. I think I would give them...
Read moreThe Olde Stone Cottage Pub serves a variety of dishes (seems pretty random). During the summer, they have patio seating available (but it was way too hot and humid today). Inside the restaurant, it was also hot and humid.
My coworkers and I came here to eat lunch. My coworkers ordered the Regular Coffee ($2.50), Lil Sig ($13 - Coleslaw x1), Fish & Chips ($16), Chicken Wrap x2 ($18 - House Salad x1, Fries x1), and the Tropic Chicken Thunder Sandwich ($18 - Coleslaw x1). I ordered the Butter Chicken ($20). The water came in 2 small glass bottles.
The coffee came in a large cup. The fish from the Fish & Chips was huge (a full sized fish). The Chicken Wrap was thick and big. My coworker said that the Chicken Sandwich wasn't that spicy. My other coworker said that the Lil Sig hamburger'd appearance looked a little disappointing. They enjoyed their food.
The Butter Chicken was not that spicy. It's as spicy as a mild Japanese curry. The rice was some good standard rice. The naan bread was quite buttery and somewhat crispy. It also smelled good. The sauce was garlicky and just spiced right. The chicken was somewhat chewy. Combining the rice and the sauce, alongside the naan in-between bites made everything taste better (and helped cut down the buttery taste of the naan).
Overall, the food was good. The inside of the restaurant ran a bit warm/humid. Felt exactly the same as it was outside. The restaurant smells like an old museum. Whatever radio that's playing is pretty loud and doesn't match what is...
