I bought the Char Kway Teow for $11.30. The one I got had a mix of two different types of noodles to try out the different textures. I used to think that CKT is basically the same thing as beef ho fun / beef chow fun, but apparently not because CKT is heavy on pork lard with added egg, no beef and with seafood; CKT is also considerably spicier. Visually speaking, CKT is also not shiny like beef chow fun.

The one that’s ordered here has chicken and fishcakes; it would be interesting if it had more seafood like shrimp or blood cockles. I liked the wok hei and the interesting experience though, and everyone says this place is the best (and it has been featured in many newspapers!). It’s certainly a new experience for me, I just wished they still had pork lard that they could add on, but this is no longer available.

I’d complain that this place takes quite a long time to prepare food, so you’d have to call way in advance to place your order, and they don’t really pick up the phone and they’re only in business for half the week at short hours. This box alone probably took an hour to come out. If you want desserts, they’re also sold out earlier in the day. They also only take cash.

The location itself is hehe. I don’t really ever go to Scarborough, and now that I’ve gone

One2 Snacks and Restoran Malaysia - my 2 favourite malay food spots in the GTA.

This resto is literally like 8 seats. If you dine in, make sure you order laksa cuz it tastes way better as a dine-in item. I've voted their laksa, the best laksa in toronto and no I didn't stutter.

The char kuey teow is also fantastic and has such amazing wok hay. I like that the portion sizes are absolutely gargantuan. Always feel like I'm getting maximum bang for my buck.

The pad thai is ok. It's not as good as some other places. You can prolly skip trying this item if you order here.

Curry puffs have really good spice but are a little on the dry side. I think that's just the way these are supposed to taste though.

Out of all the desserts: kuih dadar (rolled coconut crepe) was my favourite. The other ones were either too contrasting of a sweet and salty nature or just too texturous haha. I didn't try the kuih seri durian because well ... not a fan of durian LOL.

The family is some of the nicest people around. Always down for a chat when...

Having lived in South-East Asia (I was born and brought up there) I love Malaysian food!!! It was an absolute joy to relish once again the various kuihs (sweet meats) from my childhood, which are served on this eatery. The Seri Muka and Talam kuihs were excellent. The char-broiled pulut panggang ( glutinous rice with a savoury filling) was out of this world! Their Nasi Lemak with fried ikan bilis ( coconut milk infused rice with deep fried dried anchovies in a spicy sauce served with boiled egg, cucumber and peanuts - a Malaysian favourite as well as staple) was excellent as well as their Char Kway Teow ( pan fried rice noodle with fishcake shrimp and chicken) was mind-blowing. Not only is the food supremely delicious, the servings are generous. Bryan is the owner. A gracious, polite, warm young man who is the epitome of Malaysian hospitality. This has become my favourite eatery in Toronto. A real treasure...

We went to One2Snacks on a weekday early dinner time and they were busy with takeout orders. They are actually always busy because they are only open Thursday-Sunday (11am-7pm). There is no dine-in, just take-out and you need to call in advance. Their line was unfortunately unable to be reached, so we went to the store to order and we waited quite a bit around 15-20 minutes. We got one dish, the Char Kway Teow ($9.95) and it was honestly SO DELICIOUS and worth the wait. There was a lot if meat including pork and shrimp, the portion was big, the noodles were not overcooked, well seasoned and not too salty. Just the perfect noodle dish at an affordable price. I don’t know what else can beat it, I understand why this place is so popular. The only downside is their order system, hopefully they can make a more efficient system for customers to order. But I can’t wait to come back and try other dishes!
