Patagonia Gourmet — Restaurant in Toronto

The bakery is great at what they do and the service is friendly. The only reason that I didn't give more stars however is that I personally believe that the hygiene of the bakery could be improved. Last time when I went, I noticed that when a box of a dozen alfajores was being prepared, the alfajores were initially grabbed and placed with tongs...but then the center alfajores (that were placed on their sides) were adjusted by the bare hands of an employee who was also handling the cash register...I wish the best for the bakery and want to visit again to buy alfajores for friends and family, but I don't want anyone to get sick because of a gift I give them. I hope the bakery can be more cautious with hygiene, including using disposable gloves if that is easier (but making sure not to touch the fingertips of the gloves with bare hands). This was a place a stumbled into by mistake. Found out about this place through my Italian barber. They delivered an order to him and I was able to try one. I was impressed not only by the quality of goods but presentation was very professional. After my haircut I headed straight there and picked up a dozen. The place is very clean, the owner was extremely friendly. The empanadas are frozen by default, made by them, they do offer them cooked and ready to go but I’m impressed with how good they are from frozen made in my own oven at home. As huge fans of alfajores, we are so lucky to have Patagonia Gourmet in our neighbourhood! 😀 They serve up authentic Argentine alfajores in flavours like maicena, chocolate and santafesino. And there is also an amazing selection of pastries like (my favourite) the chocotorta 🤤 They also have empanadas available, which feature such beautifully flaky dough and perfectly seasoned fillings.
