When seeking a dining experience that waltzes across the tightrope of exotic flavors, lavish presentation, and warm hospitality, one need look no further than Tao Northern Chinese Cuisine. Tucked away at 220 Laird Drive, this hidden gem is a veritable treasure trove of dishes that transport your taste buds to the mystical Far East.
Our culinary odyssey commenced with the Chicken Won Ton Noodle Soup, a soothing symphony of delicate flavors that nourished our souls. The Chicken Spring Rolls were next to grace our table; their golden, crispy exteriors revealing a delectable filling that married the playful textures of perfectly seasoned chicken with the earthy crunch of fresh vegetables.
Tao's Chicken Fried Rice danced on our palates, a whirlwind of flavors that united smoky, caramelized notes with the tangy sweetness of pineapple. The Lemon Chicken was a true masterpiece, as if Da Vinci himself had crafted the dish. Tender, succulent pieces of chicken were lightly battered, then bathed in a vibrant lemon sauce that dazzled the senses with its perfect balance of sweetness and acidity.
The Pepper Beef left us utterly speechless, with its tender morsels of beef that melted in our mouths, juxtaposed against the fiery heat of black pepper and the delicate sweetness of caramelized onions. The Assorted Seafood & Vegetables was a delightful marine medley, harmoniously combining the briny freshness of the ocean with the natural sweetness of colorful, crisp veggies.
As for the Chicken Singapore Vermicelli, it was a tantalizing fusion of textures and flavors, each strand of vermicelli expertly coated in a fragrant curry sauce that bewitched the senses.
Our adventure culminated in the sinfully delicious Deep Fried Bananas with Vanilla Ice Cream and strawberries. The bananas, enrobed in a feather-light batter and fried to crispy perfection, were the perfect accompaniment to the creamy, velvety ice cream, while the vibrant strawberries added a dash of color and tang to the exquisite dessert.

Read moreI visited this restaurant on September 1. I ordered the grilled pork chop and beef on steamed rice with Chicken add on, along with a drink. The food itself was tasty, and the server who helped me was kind, patient, and gave great menu suggestions despite how busy it was.
Unfortunately, the overall restaurant experience was very disappointing. When I asked to be seated by the window, I was told that spot was reserved for “large groups” even though it was just a four-person table. Instead, I was placed at another four-person table which was a very uncomfortable spot: my back was against a shelf full of drinks, I was facing a pillar that servers struggled to move around, and new guests were standing right beside my table reading the menu out loud. On the other side, I had a customer, a chain-smoker who stank of smoke and the smell made it nearly impossible to enjoy my food.
What bothered me most was the lack of professionalism. The manager walked around checking on every table but ignored mine. Later, she climbed onto my seat to reach for a drink, which was shocking and showed zero restaurant etiquette. Only after that did she ask how everything was — but by then, it felt insincere.
Overall: ✅ Good food ✅ Friendly servers ❌ Bad seating arrangement ❌ Poor restaurant etiquette ❌ Manager needs better training...

It was great! The spring roll had a generous amount of chicken and was perfectly crispy. I ordered the bún with beef — the meat was well-cooked, and the noodles were just right. I also tried the sugar cane shrimp, which had a pleasantly chewy texture, similar to fish cake.
My husband enjoyed his dish as well — a combination of grilled meat and rice.
The hall manager was very friendly and shared some background about the restaurant. He mentioned that the owner recently transitioned to Vietnamese cuisine but kept a few Chinese dishes on the menu, which was nice to hear, especially since we really liked the beef dish.
Previous review: We’d been curious about this restaurant for a while, so we finally decided to give it a try. It seems to cater more to locals, and overall, the experience was mediocre.
Our favorite dishes were the lettuce wraps with chicken and the crispy beef—both well-priced and enjoyable. The garlic shrimp and fried rice were okay; the shrimp had a nice garlic flavor but was a bit under-seasoned, so I had to ask for some salt.
On a positive note, the staff were friendly...
