The Leaside Pub — Restaurant in Toronto

Horrible experience. If I could rate this in the negatives I would. After sitting there for ten minutes, the bartender had to track our waiter down to tell him he had a table. He came right over, no apologies for making us wait, nothing. He brought us menus and took our drink order. Drinks were brought over a few minutes later. Then we sat there for another ten minutes while our waiter vanished yet again. He served the larger party table and seemed to blatantly ignore us. Please note: there were five, maybe six tables with patrons throughout the entire establishment. It was nowhere near busy. After more than twenty minutes of sitting there in a nearly empty establishment without food orders being taken, I went to the bar and asked to pay the bill. The bartender was visibly irritated that we were still waiting. The waiter came over to our table, chipper as can be, and gave us our bill. Zero acknowledgement of the wait. Zero explanation of why he ignored us. Zero empathy. Zero apology. He did not care. He did not offer to comp our drinks ($10 worth). He did nothing except not serve us. I complained to the manager who also didn't offer to comp our drinks nor offer any explanation about his employees abysmal service and behaviour. He only said he would discuss it with him. He also seemed indifferent to the ridiculous experience we had. The waiter in question had a long beard and reddish hair. Worst waiter ever. Honestly stopped by randomly just to use the restroom but decided to sit down and have a drink also since most places in the area won’t let me use the restroom without purchasing anything lol. I was surprised to see pub more busy then other pubs/restaurants at this time of the day (2pm) which is pretty cool since I now don’t feel “weird” for having a drink so early in the afternoon. The service I got from the bartender was great. I just walked in and sat down and somehow she knew I was there and served me my drink right away which is nice as a lot of other places may not be as busy at this time but also may not even recognize someone is sitting at the bar. Looking around people that were eating looked like they had some good food. Im curious to know what the vibe is like when a Raptors/Leafs game is on and plan to come back and find out. I also plan to try some of those 75 cent/ea wings I see people talking about in there reviews lol. If you live in the area and like pub food or just want to grab a drink id suggest...

First time here, and I was very impressed. This pub is excellent and has an amicable and inviting atmosphere. It is a great place to go with friends if you want to watch sports or play pool.

I ordered the chicken club sandwich, the chicken was tender, and the bacon was perfectly cooked on multigrain bread that was also toasted perfectly. It was accompanied by potato wedge-style pub fries that were also cooked to perfection, soft on the inside and crispy on the outside.

Looking over the menu, I noticed they had a great wine selection and an incredible array of food items, with very reasonable prices throughout the whole menu. Listed on the board was their weekly special, and yes, one of them was wing night.

The service was excellent. I had a young man with light hair serve me. He was very attentive and friendly. Food came out promptly!!

I can see why this establishment has been around as long as it has; great place definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for fantastic pub fare and a homie...
