Real Fruit Bubble Tea — Restaurant in Toronto

I ordered a strawberry banana smoothie. My doctor advised me to avoid both sugar and caffeine, so I chose this drink thinking it would naturally be sweet enough from the fruits.

However, as soon as I took a sip, I could taste an artificial sweetness that clearly didn’t come from banana or strawberry — it was way too sweet for me. I went back to the shop and asked if they had added sugar, and they said yes. They also told me that next time, I should ask for “no sugar.”

Honestly, how am I supposed to know they add sugar by default? I assumed a banana strawberry smoothie would simply include banana, strawberry, and yogurt. Wouldn’t it be better if they asked customers whether they want sugar or syrup added?

Ordered a large papaya slush at the centre-point mall location. This is a drink I order at several locations across toronto. Papaya is a sweet fruit so I always order without any added sugar. The first issue is the drink came pink…papaya is orange…..weird but I can live with that. The real issue is that he added a bunch of syrup that made the drink too sweet and undrinkable. After some back and forth it was clear that he was not going to remake my drink or offer me something else. In the interest of not creating a scene, I put my drink on the counter and left. $10 is not worth the stress. This is too bad because my experience with the Real Fruit chain has been good. I had a really disappointing experience at the Real Fruit location in Centerpoint Mall (North York, near Finch). I came in well before closing time, yet one of the female staff who was suppose to take orders made it seem like I was an inconvenience and acted as if they were already closed. The young lady who spoke with me was extremely rude and unprofessional. Instead of communicating with me in English, she kept speaking in Chinese with her two colleagues while I stood there, clearly trying to place an order. It felt like they were ignoring me on purpose.
