From the moment I stepped into Saigon Express, I was transported—not just to another restaurant, but to a bustling street corner in the heart of Vietnam. This place doesn’t just serve food—it tells a story with every bite.
I started with the beef pho, and let me tell you, the broth alone deserves its own standing ovation. Deep, rich, and lovingly simmered, it felt like something only a grandmother could perfect over hours. The noodles were silky, the beef tender, and the fresh herbs brought everything to life. Each spoonful warmed my soul.
But the true showstopper? The grilled lemongrass beef and rice. Perfectly charred, smoky, with that citrusy kick of lemongrass that lingered on the palate just long enough to make you crave the next bite. Topped with a crispy egg, pickled carrots, and a splash of fish sauce—it was a harmony of texture and flavor I won’t soon forget.
On top of that, real tea, real lemon. After the warm, savoury lemongrass beef, that first cold sip was insanely refreshing—clean, citrusy, actually thirst quenching. Exactly what you want after a rich bite.
The service? Impeccable. Kind, attentive, and fast without ever feeling rushed. Even during the lunch rush, the owner made sure every customer felt like a guest of honor.
Saigon Express isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a place to savor, to remember, and to come back to time and time again. Five stars, no question. If you’re searching for a spot that delivers authentic Vietnamese cuisine with heart and soul, Saigon...
Read moreHas been one of my top 3 restaurants in Toronto since I first moved into the neighborhood but today reminded me why! I had the chicken vermicelli which I’d rate as the BEST in Toronto but the two spring rolls I commented on to which they informed me that to maintain “ their standard “ everything was home/hand made “ from scratch! They were oversized, the freshest I’ve ever had and definitely delicious! Funny as so many of our family and friends make them as well, shhh! Anyway, it is as much a pleasure to positively critique this place as it is to eat here, I highly recommend anyone visiting Toronto to subway up to the Fairview Mall, walk 5 minutes north on Don Mills and treat yourself to one of those little places around the world which make you wonder why they are not world famous 👏👏👏❤️ Oh regards pricing each individual plate was under $15!!! I’ve had everything on the menu except super spicy and have never been disappointed, always...
Read moreWe have been going here for years, since they opened.
It goes to prove: healthy fare does not mean tasteless. This is healthy, fresh, vibrant, tasty Vietnamese food, prepared with care and finesse. The pho' here is good, not too salty. I have the vermicelli with salad and grilled pork, thinly cut. Not sure what marinade they use but it is addictive. The salad rolls - out of this world. Had the cafe da and am still bouncing off the walls from the caffeine - hard core, smooth, real Viet coffee. Regular customers, everyone knows everyone else, it is like being in a family members home for lunch. Nice, welcoming and warm atmosphere. Love this place. NICE people running...
