2019: Best sushi!!
Update 2022: I’m sad to write this but unfortunately the quality has gone downhill tremendously. We’ve still been trying to be a loyal customer even after we moved away. But, the time has come to accept the quality and service is just not the same.
Sushi - taste and size are good - 4/5. Quality is 3/5 as the rice breaks easily when picked up, and sometimes the filling isn’t packed in properly so it’ll fall out. They have stopped putting wasabi and ginger with the order. (Or it’s just been missed a bunch on our order, I don’t know)
Sashimi - 1/5 — really gross. I’m sorry. I’ve tried to get over this but they cut their sashimi way too thick. We’re literally eating a whole fish with every piece. And sometimes you can taste that it was pre-frozen as it is very wet and water oozes out. We have asked on numerous occasions to slice the sashimi thin, and this last (and final) time, it’s bigger than it’s ever was.
Non-sushi - 4/5 the dim sum and other items are probably more of their specialty these days. But I find I’m too grossed out by the sushi experience that I can’t fully enjoy the hot stuff.
Service - over the pandemic, we loved that they delivered without having to go through an app. But they kept putting the warm stuff with the sushi, so we would always get warm sushi. We would put in the fridge, sometimes in the snow to chill it. We asked every time politely to separate, and they never did. Even when we would pick up, to try and mitigate the situation, the hot food was packed in a separate bag (yay), but sitting on top of the sushi (boo).
Sakura, we’ve been a loyal customer since 2016 and always considered our favourite. But I’m sorry to say that is officially no longer the case. We love sushi but are tired of the disappointment. We may try you again in a year or so. Hopefully you use this time to change some things and become back to the great restaurant you...
Read moreI didn't want to give 1 star since one of the waiters was actually attentive and prompt but the food is old and tastes horrible plus an argumentative attitude by who I'm guessing is the owner or manager. The cooked food was all inedible. I sent back the well done steak teriyaki which was supposed to be rare. It tasted like it was overcooked to purposely hide that it's expired. The stir fried udon was a wet mess. The chicken skewers was rubbery like it was microwaved. Disregarding the food, the service was bad. I was told that there is a limit if 3 pcs of sashimi per seating/visit. On the order sheet it said 3 pcs per order. I provided feedback that the wording should be changed to avoid misunderstanding. I got an eye roll. Then when I asked to take home the left over udon I was told it was $3 extra. That would normally be understandable but I had to take it home to recook it since it was so bad. I asked the restaurant, would you rather throw it out and waste food or I recook it. They chose to throw it out. The only thing half decent here are the maki rolls. The seaweed is wet and chewy but at least it's not disproportionately filled with rice like other...
Read moreMy two friends and I went here for dinner, we got seated right next to the toilet and it smelt horrible. We asked to move and then they proceeded to give the table away to 2 new people who walked in 10 minutes after we asked. We ordered our food and I got my appetizer which was sticky rice in a lotus leaf and that’s where the real horror begins. The rice was FROZEN in the middle, once I told them this, they simply re-heated it and gave it back to me. 30 minutes later, our food was still not there, (the people who came in way after us had now gotten their food). We asked about how much longer it was going to take and the server came back to tell us she never even placed our order. We decided to leave and we never got our food. For context, I was STILL charged for my stale and cold sticky rice after all of that. Horrible. I do not recommend this place to anyone, the family sitting near us was also having problems where they gave them their food an hour after they ordered and they gave them the complete...
