Very disappointed with The Rolling Pin, even after they came highly recommended! I ordered a special cake for my wife’s 40th birthday. It was to be Friend’s themed (TV show) cake. I forwarded the photo of the 3 tiered beautiful cake (first photo) and chatted with their staff via email. We agreed on one tier, as I didn’t have nearly enough people for all 3 tiers. I was told by Vanessa (who I notice in a few subpar Google reviews here); ‘No problem. We can do a friends themed cake 9” single tier for $XX (not inexpensive btw) and we can incorporate a mixture of designs from all those cakes you sent’. Note: all cakes had fondant ‘3D’ figurines. Well, when I picked up the cake, in fact I had my friends grab it for me as I was trying to get everything ready & perfect for my wife’s party, the second picture is what the actual cake looked like. Including, the sign on the cake which is to say ‘The One Where Alina Turns 40’ was clearly spelled/grammatically incorrect; ‘The One Were Alina Turns 40’. Yes, my great friends took the cake back immediately and the sign was fixed, but this should’ve been caught by the shop before ever being given to the customer. You can also clearly see that the ‘figurines’ are sugar printed 1D, very amateur looking and not anywhere close to what I sent and was agreed upon. I sent a very civil email on Sept. 12, the morning after the party, explaining my disappointment and simply wanted a response; No response. I followed-up with another civil email on Sept. 22 asking simply for a response and possible resolution; No response. It shocks me that the quality of cakes that this great shop seems to produce, how my very important cake totally missed any sort of quality control. None the less, not having a single response to either of my email attempts, note: to the same email address that was very open to discussing my order when profits were in their favour, is possibly the worst customer service I’ve experienced. I will say, the cake (gf) was delicious tasting and was enjoyed by all! But, the letdown of how excited I was to open that cake for my wife, on her special day, was crushed.

Birthday Cake Disaster! Having enjoyed Rolling Pin's doughnuts in the past, I decided to try their Smores Cake for my daughter's third birthday. BIG MISTAKE. In my online order form, I had selected the 11-12 pickup window but made a note that if my cake could be ready earlier I would appreciate it and to please let me know. Since I heard nothing, I arrived during my pickup window and my cake was nowhere to be found. Having prepaid for my cake, I expected it to be ready and was annoyed we had to wait an additional fifteen minutes when we had a busy day ahead of us. I was told, "They're just finishing up writing your name plaque" to explain the delay despite overhearing that they weren't aware of my order until I came into the store. Since the cake was tall, when the box was sealed on top of a name plaque that was still wet and had not been given a chance to dry, the beautiful message I had composed for my daughter became illegible. Worse than that, when we tried to remove the plaque the entire top of the cake was ruined because it was heavily stuck on with sticky icing that pulled the tops of the marshmallows right off the cake. The cake itself was mediocre at best. Although the chocolate cake was moist, it wasn't anything close to what you expect from the price tag. The icing was bland, and you could barely taste the graham crackers. My guests couldn't even tell it was a smores cake. When I emailed the Rolling Pin to let them know I was disappointed with my order and to explain what happened with the name plaque, they didn't get back to me. Would never order a cake from them again or recommend the Rolling Pin!

**For those using Google Maps to find this place, there new address is: 1970 Avenue Road, Toronto, Ontario, m5m4a1. I've sent in a Google suggestion to change the address since we went and the yelp/Google address is wrong** Anyways, my girlfriend and I decided to go to the rolling pin on National Donut Day. Just a few tips on the location. There is a Green P parking behind the building and note that if you want certain donuts make an order in advance and pick up, otherwise it's first come first serve. Taken this was our first time going and we didn't know about the first come first serve. We were lucky enough to get the last batch of the Canoli Donut (released that day) and the Oreo Cheesecake. We got a half dozen which costed us $18 flat. Our half dozen consisted of 2 Canoli Donuts, 2 Oreo Cheesecake Donuts, 1 Brûléed Key Lime Donut and 1 Banana Caramel Cornflake Donut. Canoli Donut- it was really good and thick. It had a whole Canoli and topped with chocolate chips Oreo Cheesecake Donut- the best donut we got in my opinion. It had a syringe filled with Chocolate and cheesecake filling inside Brûléed Key Lime Donut- not much of a fan of keylime pies but this donut did it well. Either way I thought it was okay Banana Caramel Cornflake Donut- really liked this donut. All the textures worked well and just the dough itself was good. Overall I really loved the rolling pin and will definitely come back for their other donuts. But I'll most likely try and preorder first.

I am appalled with the level of service I have just received from J'adore Cakes. After placing an order on Wednesday, further co-corresponding with the bakery on Thursday via email I have just been notified that my order was never filled? I was expecting to pick them up this afternoon for an event this evening. Because no one thought to contact me when details needed to be clarified, I am left with nothing. I clearly stated in all my communication with the bakery both on the phone and by email:

"The base price for my order is $99, and we set a budget of $130 for the embellishments (contact me if this needs to be adjusted)"-I'M OK TO PAY MORE MONEY IF REQUIRED

"Please contact me if you have any questions, if you can not reach me by phone then email is next best"-CALL ME AS A PRIMARY CONTACT METHOD, EMAIL ME AS A SECONDARY CONTACT METHOD

When the bakery felt the budget set wasn't enough, they simply cancelled the order. I was never called regarding my order and given an opportunity to approve an increased budget.

The 'icing on the cake' of my experience? When I called to inquire about the pick up of my order (which should be today) The woman on the phone was rude, and offered me nothing but a very insincere 'I'm sorry' only after realizing that there was a HUGE error made here. There was no attempt to make a resolution or to rectify the situation. Whom ever I spoke with on the phone decided that the best way to mend the situation was to do nothing at all, and HANG UP on me when I started asking about what you have available in stock. They have continued to ignore my calls and emails.

As an event planner I have always worked with the same reliable shops and have never experienced this type of service. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. They're not the only shop in town, and I have had amazing experiences at other establishments (For the Love of Cake,...

I usually don’t give bad reviews but I feel like I should say something about this. First of all, I have been a fan of their cakes for years and would order their cakes a lot for special occasions. Naturally, I ordered my wedding cake from them three years ago. Unfortunately, due to Covid, the wedding got cancelled n the cake was never made. Fast forward to this year when my wedding decided to finally happen. Before this period I was trying to figure out if either to get back a gift card for the down payment of cake or not. In the end I decided on GC but never arranged to pick it up. Then a few months past, I reached out to the Rolling pin on email and was in constant communication with Vanessa about the new wedding date n store credit I had. She never mentioned any concerns. Then TWO weeks before my wedding, I had a bad feeling so I called the store just to double check. Sure enough there was a lack of communication before the two co owners and Vanessa has left on mat leave at the time. Now as I was speaking with the other owner, she did not acknowledge my store credit / gift card and in addition she tells me she doesn’t have a cake stand anymore for my donut tower( you are a bakery shop!). Because it was already so close to the wedding date, we compromised on me getting the cake stand and forgo the $180 credit while she will honour the old prices for the cake and will have someone decor the cake n deliver to venue n set up . However, on the day of the wedding, she tells me she doesn’t do set ups anymore and then tries to gaslight me as if this was the initial understanding the whole time, then has the audacity to tell me to have a great time. So ya, I was left high and dry with just a cake n bunch of donuts in boxes.

So it’s safe to say that this store has lost a loyal customer forever and I’m just done with them...
