Will never step foot in this store ever again and I am making a human rights complaints against this establishment.
Today is March 3, 2018, and today, my Mother and I had entered this establishment at around 7:15pm and I had purchased a few items plus a lottery ticket. An older Sikh man was working the cash, was nice when he cashed me out and my Mom was looking at the papayas. When I had finished, I walked over to my mom. My Mom had gently wrapped the papaya back up and placed it back in its spot. When my Mom reached for another one, the same man who cashed me out, started shouting at my Mom like she's an animal. "STOP THAT! YOU PUT THAT DOWN! DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH THAT! YOU PEOPLE ARE MESSING UP MY STORE!!!"
My Mom and I looked at each other confused wondering who he was shouting at. There were four other customers in the store, standing in line to cash out: Two Caucasian men, two Asian young women, and my Mom and myself. Then the man left behind the cash and literally walked up to my Mom and I started shouting at us like we are animals... "YOU PUT THAT DOWN! YOU PEOPLE ALWAYS DESTROY EVERYTHING YOU TOUCH! STOP TOUCHING MY PAPAYAS! GET OUT OF MY STORE NOW!"
My Mom was so stunned and upset that she placed the papaya down and walked out of the store trying not to cry. Seeing my Mom's face, I stood up to the man and told him, "How dare you speak to my Mom and I like this?! I just spent money in your store. We are not animals, how dare you speak to us like we're beneath you?" The two Asian young women were so shocked that they put their items down and walked out of the store. The Sikh continued shouting, " YOU PEOPLE ARE ANIMALS AND YOU ALWAYS COME INTO MY STORE AND ALWAYS DESTROY EVERYTHING AND MESS UP MY STORE!"
(That was the first time my Mom entered the store, this was my second and last time.)
I replied, "We are not animals. We are not beneath you! How dare you speak to us like we are beneath you. The colour of our skin doesn't demean us as animals. We are not thiefs, we are not vagabonds. My God, sir, you have no right. Look, if you think that my Mom and I would destroy your store, I will clean up the mess."
The man replied,"YOU ACT LIKE AN ANIMAL IN MY STORE, I WILL TREAT YOU LIKE ANIMALS!" So, I proceed to clean up and organise this papayas and made sure that his papayas were cleaned, while my Mom stood outside crying. What hurt the most was that the man shouted at us in front of the other customers. Other customers were making a mess, but he said nothing to them, but he made sure to label my Mom and I.
And this isn't the first time I've experienced this type of mistreatment. A couple months back, I came into this same establishment to purchase fresh thyme. The same older Sikh man was working the counter and I kindly asked him where it was. The man pointed and told me, "Look there." I walked to where he was pointing, but I couldn't find it. I asked kindly again for help and the man stormed out from the behind the counter and shouted at me, "WHAT YOU CAN'T READ? ARE YOU STUPID?! LOOK IT'S HERE." The man pointed at the place where the fresh Thyme was (with an unreadable label), and started to walk away. Then he mumbled something under his breath. I couldn't pick it up, but I thought the man was having a bad day... But after the way he spoke to my Mom and me, now I know that this man does despised people have dark-skinned and mixed African pigmentation. I wish I had taken a picture of the papayas, but watching my Mom cry outside, I left without taking a picture.
If you're not Caucasian, Asian, light-skinned Indian, you are not welcomed in this...

Ive lived in the neighborhood for a long time, never have any reason to post a poor review up until today.
I went into this store for the first time after doing some sunday work.
Went up the first and second aisle just browsing for some potential purchases.
As i looked at the tea, the women behind the counter (that so many of these reviews are about)
JUMPS OUT AT ME , and shouts what did you take ?
Me astonished, mentioned i didnt even touch a single item… i had my backpack on and my hood because it was cold, another small bag in my hand WITH CLOTHING I WAS GIVING TO THE HOMELESS… i opened the bag in front of her to show here NOTHING OTHER THEN CLOTHING.
I told her check her cameras. NOT ONLY was she rude and disrespectful, she falsely accused me of taking something when I didn’t even touch a singular item in her store
Disappointed to see this is how she treats people who live in her own community
I hope you take a look at the reviews and then issue me a written apology. NEVER in my entire life has somebody accused me of taking something.
She scared me and shouted at me .
NEVER WALK INTO THIS STORE AGAIN.
STAY FAR...
Read moreABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE PLACE!!! My friend who's a Service dog handler went to this place with their service dog and had a horrible experience with the workers! The place is extremely uneducated and the woman at the till repeatedly asked to see an ID (no such thing they are a scam in Ontario) so they attempted showed their Dr's note which is all is needed in Ontario by law but the woman kept shutting em down then the woman bypassed it and began asking the Handler what the service dog was for which is extremely rude to ask and so inappropriate!!!
The woman at the Till then started saying that they can't be in here because another worker has allergies (it's illegal to deny someone with a service animal due to someone having allergies if someone has an allergie both people must be accomadated)
This altercation caused severe stress on the Handler causing em to almost began crying because of this uneducated worker which caused the handler to leave!!!
What they did was extremely illegal and this place needs to be educated and the woman should be reprimanded for her...
