This terrific place certainly is not in need of yet more raving reviews. It’s very obvious that it is among the most beloved spots in Toronto. However, having been there for my first time last week, I felt compelled to add my voice here to the Skyline fan club! So at the risk of sounding like every other delighted customer, here are my two cents: My husband and I drove up from Montreal to visit with our daughter who lives in Toronto since about five years. She had booked an Italian restaurant for our dinner together, but said Skyline was one of her personal favourite spots. So we asked her why not go there then? We’d love to see a place she feels comfortable and enjoys on a regular basis. She had taken us to Ace, closer to her home, for delicious brunches and she said it had a similar vibe. We were sold! She cancelled the other reservation and since Skyline doesn’t take reservations, we took a chance we could get a table at 7:30. That’s one of the (many) fabulous things about Skyline: it’s always full but you don’t seem to need to wait in line! The flow is just easy come and go, in an atmosphere of conviviality and joie de vivre which really made us feel instantly at home. Cameron, the do-it-all waiter/cocktail mixer/host/David Grohl lookalike took us to our booth and explained the daily specials to us. We all chose our own favorite from the daily specials and were equally pleased with out orders. Generous and tasty! My daughter was happy with her non-meat dish of spaghetti and non-meatballs, while my husband had the daily chicken with mashed and root veggies and I opted for the scrumptious pasta dish with tons of fresh bacon and mushrooms. So yummy. Our bottle of white was served in a wine bucket and the service was beyond reproach the entire time. Even though we were so full by that time, we couldn’t resist trying one of their (four kinds!) of house cream pie. We chose the lime one, which tasted like key lime pie with extra cream. What’s not to love. Will definitely be back. No wonder Andy sings about this place. If I could, I would too.

Came across this cute diner when we were looking for a hearty breakfast and a great cup of coffee. We loved it! The place looks like it hasn’t been touched in decades adding to its charm. It was very busy - our waitress told us Sundays are always super busy… We sat at the counter at the front of the restaurant adding a dash of nostalgia to our diner experience! It wasn’t long before they had to start a waiting list for people wanting to come in - no one seemed to mind waiting 10-15 minutes. Everyone was able to get seated pretty quickly. The staff were running around with efficiency and appeared to work very well together. The only somewhat disappointing part of our meal was that the staff was indeed soooo busy, that they didn’t have time to smile or even consider socializing to any extent… that’s sad as this often can turn a great experience into an awesome one 😏 I kept my hopes up that our waitress would come through when we settled the bill and engage in a bit of chit-chat, but that was not the case. The poor lady was multitasking to another level which resulted in my “thanks for everything, it was really good” to fall on deaf ears… We both had the classic breakfast which was served fast and fully delivered on the yumminess!! The coffee was also really good - not surprisingly, as we watched them make pot after pot in the short time we were there. I would highly recommend you try this place for yourself if you haven’t yet - despite today’s outcome, we’d come back in a heartbeat!

Wyck Recommends: Skyline Restaurant Rating: 3.6/5 Skyline is the kind of place that’s been around forever, and so has its service—or at least that’s how long it feels when you’re waiting for your food. The old-school booths and rotating menu keep things interesting, but don’t expect a warm welcome or quick refills. The souvlaki? A sleeper hit. Well-seasoned, juicy, and actually worth ordering. The Chinese-style noodles and fried chicken? Solid execution, but don’t expect Chinatown prices. And the pies? Easily the best thing here. If you leave without trying one, you’ve failed yourself. Pros: ✔ Cool, retro diner vibes without trying too hard ✔ Souvlaki that actually delivers ✔ Pies that slap—don’t skip them Cons: ✖ Service is consistently slow and indifferent ✖ No website, gotta hunt down the menu on Instagram ✖ Prices lean high for what you get ✖ Menu changes, so don’t get attached to anything Final Take: Skyline isn’t perfect, but it’s got charm, solid food, and a rotating menu that keeps things fresh. Just don’t expect the service to care that you exist. Check the specials, grab a souvlaki, and for the love of all things good—get the pie.

I never do this... Mostly because I am a veteran in the industry, and I've read my fair share of reviews that I would consider untruthful. But after my experience last night, I'm still trying to relive the magic of that burger I had. I have been here on several occasions (I love the burger) and was treated to a wonderful jam session one Monday evening. I've always had a great time, and the service has always been great. But last night, I went for the burger special... And let me tell you, this may have been the absolute best burger I have ever eaten. I have eaten alot of burgers through the years, and this one made me fall in love all over again. A beautifully cooked, and seasoned patty, with a thick slice of peameal bacon, bbq sauce and some purple coleslaw to add that lovely bit of crunch. I've never made so many mmmmm sounds in my life, and I'm pretty sure Nick thought I may be getting a little inappropriate with my burg. Add in some awesome convo with Maggie, a nice tequila to cap the night, and I will call the skyline my favorite spot in Parkdale. Thanks for the hospitality team!! If you haven't been, and you love good food, and great atmosphere, then you gotta check it out. Thanks chef for satisfying my burger craving, and thanks to the rest of the crew for staying true to the...
