โ ๏ธ Taste of Colombo - A Disheartening Staff Experience โ ๏ธ ๐ท๐๐
My interaction with the staff at Taste of Colombo left much to be desired. From the moment we entered the restaurant, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming, and the staff members did not seem genuinely interested in providing good service.
The first issue arose with the lack of a warm greeting upon arrival. The staff seemed disengaged and uninterested in acknowledging guests, which immediately set a negative tone for the dining experience.
Even before we had the chance to order food, our experience with the staff at Taste of Colombo was disheartening. As we walked into the restaurant, we were met with cold stares from the staff members, and it was evident that they were not happy to see new customers.
The lack of basic courtesy and professionalism displayed by the staff at Taste of Colombo was shocking and disappointing. It's one thing to have a bad dining experience, but to receive such unwelcoming treatment before even ordering food is unacceptable.
We left the restaurant feeling disheartened and disrespected, with no intention of ever returning. The lack of hospitality and customer service demonstrated by the staff left a lasting negative impression of the establishment.
In conclusion, I would strongly advise against visiting Taste of Colombo based on our experience with their unwelcoming staff and disappointing service. A restaurant's success relies not only on the quality of its food but also on the courtesy and hospitality of its staff. Unfortunately, in this case, the staff's demeanor and lack of professionalism overshadowed any potential culinary experience. ๐ท๐๐๐ฝ๏ธ๐
Overall, the lack of customer-centricity and professionalism displayed by the staff at Taste of Colombo made for a disheartening dining experience. Their disinterest, lack of knowledge, and unprofessional behavior significantly impacted the overall impression of the restaurant. I left feeling disappointed and frustrated, with no desire to return or recommend the establishment to...
ย ย ย Read moreI did not realize until after I left the restaurant and read over the other reviews! This is very deceiving and not right. No physical receipt with breakdown was provided and I just had to pay electronically. After payment I was no given a physical receipt until I asked to for it which made it seem like they wanted to pull a fast one to hide the extra service charge. Turns out same thing was done for past takeout order for my friend who did not check receipts until now.
Changed to 1 star because I got food poisoning from curry chicken which was not cooked thoroughly. Meat was still pink inside.
Server was nice/polite but food quality was not the greatest. The rice and chicken/veggie curry dish had cold rice but she said they had heated it up and was โbecause of the weatherโ. She took the dish back to reheat after we asked her but the rice was still not hot, just slightly warm. We had to ask her for plates and for two adults and one child, we got 1 jug of water, 1 water glass, 1 fork, 1 spoon and 2 butter knives for the rice with chicken and veggie curries, chicken nuggets and egg / plain hoppers. Hoppers were good with the very spicy chili sambal. Chicken nuggets were crispy. Curries were spicy.
There was no air conditioning but luckily it had cooled down for the evening so it wasnโt too hot. She offered us a floor room fan and it helped that it was blowing on us the whole time we were there.
It took quite a long time to get the food.
Cleanliness is not the greatest, there are crumbs on the table and booth seats. Washroom was not the cleanest either and there no toilet paper holder, only a giant roll of industrial toilet paper lying flat on surface.
Nice photos of Sri Lanka on the walls, nice lighting and nice displays of art.
Parking lot is small with lots of small restaurants, a...
ย ย ย Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at a Sri Lankan restaurant in Scarborough, ON, and I must say it was a delightful experience. As a first-timer, I wasn't quite sure what to expect from the cuisine, but the warm and welcoming owner immediately put us at ease. She was not only kind but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, making our visit truly memorable.
The owner took the time to patiently answer all our questions, which was a lifesaver since most of us were unfamiliar with Sri Lankan food. She was considerate of any dietary restrictions we had and took great care to gauge our spice tolerance levels. It was clear she wanted us to have the best possible experience, and she suggested some fantastic recommendations from the menu when she saw us overwhelmed by the unfamiliar dish names.
We decided to try a variety of dishes to get a taste of Sri Lankan cuisine. The Chicken Fried Rice Sri Lankan style was a real treat, bursting with flavor and a perfect blend of spices. The Chicken Kottu was a unique and flavorful dish, and the Kidu was a delightful surprise with its fresh and vibrant flavors. The parathas were a great accompaniment, providing the perfect balance to the other dishes. For dessert, we indulged in the lavariya, which was a sweet ending to our meal that left us craving for more.
To complement the meal, the restaurant also served local Sri Lankan beverages. The Orange Barley drink was an instant hit, followed by the necto and ginger drink, which added an extra layer of authenticity to our dining experience.
We visited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch, and to our delight, the place was not crowded at all. The quick service was a pleasant surprise, ensuring that we didn't have to wait long to savor the delicious food.
