Tender Shawarma & Grill — Restaurant in Toronto

Disorganized and extremely rude owners! I called from work to place a lunch order for pick up and the guy immediately told me he's too busy to take the order and told me to text it to him all before I even got a chance to tell him how big the order was. I should have opted to order from a different restaurant then and there, but I did as he instructed (not suggested or asked...instructed!) I had already typed burger/fries orders for 8 people on my PC, so I simply took a picture of my screen and texted it to him. I called to make sure he got it. He confirmed and said to pick up in 45 minutes. Wow! When I went to pick up 45 minutes later, the order wasn't ready and the cook started yelling at me because HE wasn't ready! I reminded him that he said 45 minutes, but he didn't care and just kept griping. I decided to stand and watch him cooking because I wanted to make sure he didn't do anything gross to our food...yes, he gave me that vibe. He told me (not asked politely) to go sit down, but I told him that since he was giving me (the customer) such a hard time, I wanted to make sure he didn't mess around with our food. THEN he says he doesn't have Jucy Lucy burgers and is cooking double burgers instead and tried to charge extra for them!!! WHAT?!?! I told him it's not my problem that he doesn't have the product I ordered and that he should have told me that when he received the order instead of after he already made the substitution without even checking with me first. THEN his wife comes out yelling at me saying that I can't talk to her husband like that! Like what??? HE was unprofessional and rude the entire time. I responded in kind. I told her to stay out of it and go back to her job washing dishes. My food was finally ready 1.25 hours after I ordered it. Other restaurants can DELIVER 20-40 minutes after receiving orders. This was a PICK UP! The burgers were good, but there are so many other restaurants that make much more delicious burgers QUICKLY and POLITELY and the burgers were certainly NOT so great to warrant 'soup Nazi' treatment. In fact, A&W's plant based Beyond Meat Burger tastes so much better than the burgers from this place. Also, the burgers are definitely not worth this place's inflated prices. They don't even deserve the 1 star I'm forced to give them. I, and the other 7 people in our office, will never patronize this...

Fresh, Tasty but not cost effective. For this area on keele south of the finch west subway station, there aren't a host of places to grab a bite to eat, especially shwarma.

I have picked up food from here before, but i wanted to try their chicken shwarma poutine today.

Here is what i can report

Pros: 3 people working around 2:30pm. They looked like a couple working with their daughter. Very courteous and friendly. They were attentive and made the gravy and fries fresh. They also took all requests and seemed like they tried their best.

Cons: Price, portion size and service time.

This dish was $15. While delicious, i think it cost too much considering the portion of fries (which are usually cheaper to cook) that was served. You can get similar dishes near dufferin/castlefield for about 30-50% less cost.

Secondly, they charge extra for garlic mayo and hummus on the dish. While this is fair and standard practice, they charge 75 cents extra for each item and they give very little of it. If you don't pay by cash be prepared to pay an additional 25 cents for using debit and visa (another thing that put me off)

Finally, i had to wait 30 mins for my order. They did have one skip the dishes order that they were working on while i got there but it looked more like they were pretty stressed out even though it wasnt busy at all. 2 other guys came after me to pick up food but they also had to wait 10 minutes. If you're walking in prepare to wait for a bit.

Summary: although a welcome addition in our area, for me personally since i prefer not paying $16.50 for a dish that doesnt even half fill me up, i would try something else for lunch when in this area. But there is plenty of room for improvement which can result in a...

The food here is pretty good but the service is horrible, it's not the first time we ordered from here and have given the place more than a few chances. They are super unorganized and under staffed. We call ahead of time and place the order to pick up, its always not ready when we come , I stand there waiting for them to prepare the entire order in front of me while I wait ,despite calling in at least 45 mins to and hour ahead of time. Today I made another order, it was a large order so we dropped off a list and we asked if one hour would be ok, she said ok , we came back in 1 hr and it wasn't ready and then we are now another half an hour in front of the restaurant. If they cannot accommodate, they should say they can't or it's let us know how long they actually need, this is not the Frist time anyhow , it happened a few times already. We come because it's close to our office. And we gave the place many chances to improve. Not coming...
