Today was my first time stumbling into The Edmund Burke. The outside sign advertising Steak Frites on Thursday for $21 beckoned me, but I didn't end up getting that after all. I don't know what I was expecting, but I was surprised when I entered. It was after 5pm and the bar was filled with men having a beer at the bar and chatting, while a table at the back had a bunch of women doing the same. This felt like the neighbourhood joint you go to every day. For me, I don't drink and I was alone, but yet I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The darker decor and old fashioned fixtures was calming in a 'you know what you're going to get here' kind of way. Familiar. Comforting. The bartender was the server and she was friendly and made me feel welcome. I ordered the Chicken Schnitzel with homemade spaetzl and thought it was delicious. I will definitely be back. I think this will be a good place to go to in the winter out of the cold. But next time I come, I'm going to check out the back patio.

This is a fantastic local. Great conversation. Great service. And you got to try the hamburger especially the The one called Jack Blue... Great beef great blue cheese. Do have the fries they're fresh cut. I love the tone of this place. I love that they're locals there that obviously been going there for a long time. I love the guy who was reading a book by the light of his laptop. He was probably riding a book. I love the guys talking about cars and bikes. And they're watching the baseball game. There Art all over the walls to distract and intrigue the curious and if you're a stranger and you don't want to be, you'll be a friend soon of the Edmund Burke.

If you are trying to break into the Danforth stretch of pubs/ restaurants/ storefronts, the Edmund Burke is a good place to start. It has great pub setting , and is a lovely casual dim light interior for hanging out witj friends or meeting new people. The server I had is friendly with great vibe and energy. Really enjoyed the chicken schnitzel with buttered spaetzle!! The spaetzle was very taste.. little dumplings topped with butter and fried up to have some good crisp. The chicken schnitzel was proper crispy, but not dry. It was tasty and seasoned well. There is a back patio and a front sidewalk patio-- great for people watching👀

Went here and if it wasn’t by the danforth it would be out of business. The cocktail I had was the cherry sour. To describe it, it had very little depth and layering and texture and was nothing but overtly sweet. I had trouble getting it down as there was no balance and it was insanely sweet. The server was rude, he literally THREW coasters at us for our drinks (no exaggeration), there was no quality check when our food came and only gave one of us cutlery. I understand turning tables, making a profit, wanting to have a good turnover for more business…but even when I payed he didn’t even wait for my card to approve before turning and speed walking away without saying a word. We were starving and we didn’t finish our dishes because it was bland and honestly made me a little sick. The glassware for drinks was APPALLING. As a mixologist I was so disturbed to see the amount of lip prints on my unused glass. It’s either your glass washer is broken or out of correct sanitizer, you don’t polish your glassware or a combination of all of the above. I took my napkin around the rim of a glass and it came out BROWN! the Only reason I gave two stars was because the garnish on the drinks were fresh, and the presentation and interior were nice. Other than that, it was a rather humiliating and disappointing...

This was my first time visiting this place as I am not from the area. I went there with my friend for some drinks before going over to a show in the theater close by. The atmosphere is really comfortable and easy-going which is what I love in a pub. The barman, Dermit I think his name was, was incredibly friendly and talkative and made us feel like part of the gang even though we have never been there before. He didn't seem annoyed to show and tell me about the different types of liquors they had and tell me about their beer selection. We also came by after the show and were met with super friendly service again. Overall, a very very pleasant place and I had a great experience. I would definitely go back there whenever I'm in...
