The Island Greek Grill — Restaurant in Toronto

OK, the review by Lyna N recently was pretty much what I was going to write! We took the kids to Center Island for the day. Heard about this place from a neighbour so we thought we'd eat at the Greek Grill for lunch. Well, the kids wanted to play at Centerville and the walk is a little far for little ones so we ended up going for dinner after we finished the rides. Well, I wish we went for lunch because that way I'd have gone there twice for dinner as well!

I can say I haven't had a gyro in about 17 years and we don't eat much greek food in general. We asked Steve what his 2 best dishes were so we got the beef/lamb and a chicken gyro. Wow! Meat was tender and flavourful. Our kids loved both which was great considering it was their first time. I had the greek fries which I've never had before, but they were pretty tasty!

The restaurant had a dirty environment, and the sauce they served me was full of flies. I ordered a combo meal but they didn’t give me the drink. When I asked about it, they insisted they had already given it to me! They wasted about 10 minutes of my time arguing until they finally realized they hadn’t. The food itself was very average. The fries were not good at all, clearly made from low-quality potatoes, many of which seemed spoiled and worm-eaten. the best most caring staff ive ever had the pleasure of meeting! After i reached out to the establishment hoping to order 50 pitas for the weekend ahead, Steve the owner took the time to message me and iron out all the details and then made sure the food would be ready, hot, and perfectly on time for our lunch. He made extra sure to accommodate for our 1 pita order with a modification as well.
