Was excited to try this place but I left pretty bittersweet. I went to order three juices and a smoothie bowl. I asked few questions about sizing, etc, and had verbally noted that I was gonna order the bowl. Later when I was ready with flavour, I verbally noted again that I would like a smoothie bowl.

Later the smoothie came out and I had realized that it came in a cup, and when I brought it to the staff’s attention, they consistently insisted that I had ordered a cup. I wasn’t going to ask them to remake it, and was going to just have what I received. But I still wanted to let them be aware that fyi, I had ordered a bowl - but that’s okay, next time.

But the staff was very firm on insisting that I was the one in the wrong, while the cashier who had taken my order was hiding at the back.

I decided to just end the conversation of that topic and wait for the rest of my order (juices), while having the smoothie - smoothie itself was good. The staffs started chitchatting, and not getting any updates for about 10-15 minutes, I politely asked them if the 3 juices were ready.

One of the staff THEN told me that it’s self serve, that I could just grab them myself from the fridge. Then she decided to come out with a paper bag and help me put the right orders in… As for the juices, it wasn’t any of my or my friends’ preferences.

The whole experience just felt very unprofessional on their end. They kept firmly denying their mistake of wrong order and instead put the blame on me, and made me waste my time waiting for the order that they should’ve informed me right away that I could take them myself.

I know this place has great reviews, and their smoothie certainly lived up to it, but their service could really improve and I’m not sure...

I ordered my smoothie and the girl who took my order did not smile at me and was not friendly. Then she went around the corner and started making smoothies. Several people behind me got their orders before me. When the girl came back I asked “is my smoothie coming?” She said “yeah” and walked away and proceeded to make everyone else’s smoothie again but not mine. The other employee came to the front and I told her what was happening and she was very apologetic. I continued waiting and my smoothie still didn’t come. So when I inquired again, the second employee apologized and refunded some of my money. The first girl was back and forth and did not even look at me or apologize or anything. It felt very intentional and the only reason I can think would be either discrimination for some reason or because she didn’t get the tip she was hoping for. The smoothie was pretty good but the experience overall was absolutely horrible. The fact that the girl didn’t even look at me or apologize or anything when I was standing right in front of her made it all feel really gross. I was very quiet and polite by the way. I didn’t get upset at all but I left feeling horrible. It was the girl with the curly brown hair and gold nose ring and...

The Organic Press is a gem within a gem of neighbourhood. Perfectly located at the corner of Augusta and Nassau Street, the juice bar is hard to miss, and shouldn’t be missed when taking a stroll through Kensington Market. Newbies and regulars alike will often say that OP has one of the best, if not the best view in the city for people watching. However, if you’re not much of a people watcher, or happen to be in a rush, their freshly squeezed juice and fruit bowls equally match the beauty of the location. Trying to compare their juice to other products on the market isn’t a fair competition. While other commercially processed juices tend to be tasty due to being filled with unhealthy sugars and preservatives, Organic Press is able to achieve the same level of sweetness without the refined sugars and over-processing. Their fruit bowls or smoothies are also comparable to having a few scoops of ice cream minus the unhealthy refined sugars. It’s quite obvious to me that many hours of experimentation (trial and error) and consistency of craftsmanship are the human ingredients that make up final recipes that our tastebuds...
