I had heard about Tom’s Dairy Freeze a couple years ago from an Uber driver that was taking me to IKEA. It peaked my interest but I never ended up making the trek there because I live in the west end of Toronto and it’s not a quick walk to get there. The other day I was on Instagram and a post popped up from Tom’s Dairy Freeze and seeing all the creations I knew I had to try it out! I had high expectations because I was making a hour and a half walk to get there. Once I arrived there was a decent line up. It was approximately 7pm on a Wednesday. I was actually surprised to see the line because it was kind of chilly outside. It took me 20 minutes to get to the front. Once I ordered though it was super fast to get my cone. I got a medium Cookie Monster cone which is vanilla ice cream dipped in blue raspberry and topped with Oreo cookie pieces. This was SO GOOD! I knew I wanted something different from your standard cone or chocolate dip. I haven’t seen blue raspberry dip anywhere else! I was kind of worried I would make that long trek and then hate the soft serve. I’m not a fan of ice cream truck ice cream and I feel like a lot of soft serve places that have hype around them (Sweet Jesus, Hollywood Cone) just taste like ice cream truck ice cream with different toppings. I actually threw out my ice cream from Hollywood Cone because I thought it was that bad. That was not the case with Tom’s Dairy Freeze though! Their ice cream reminded me of Dairy Queen soft serve but better! I would however get a small cone next time instead of a medium because with the raspberry coating and the toppings it was super filling. Though I did see kids finish a large in no time flat so take that for what you will. All in all I really enjoyed this ice cream and would definitely recommend it! Go for something out of the box that you can’t get anywhere else and you won’t be disappointed. If you’re not wanting to wait in a long line I would suggest going earlier in the day on a weekday. I have heard on hot days during the summer the wait can be...

Tom's Dairy Freeze SOLIDIFIED my love for dipped cones. The reason for this is their variety of dips and combinations of toppings! Not only that I also found my love in their signature flavor bursts as well! But more into that later in the Review

First thing's first, just more about the store from my perspective. Its a little corner Ice Cream Shop with a small parking lot, I personally sometimes just park across the other plaza (not sure if I was allowed to do that) and walk over to get some yummy Ice Cream.

Regarding line-ups, the time's I have gone, Line-ups were not CRAZY long, only because I've gone during the weekdays or non peak hours. The longest I had to wait was the line going to the middle of their small parking lot, and the wait I would say was may 25 mins. But either way I would say that the Ice Cream is well worth it!

Now to the good stuff! Like I said previously, there are plenty of Ice Cream options on the menu, but my girlfriend and I tend to hone in on the Soft Serves for the dips and different combinations. I would HIGHLY recommend the cookie monster (Soft serve Ice Cream dipped in blueberry dip and Oreo cookie topping) or even the combination of Dipped Chocolate Soft Serve with Skors toppings. Note You can have any combination you prefer, we personally just looked on Instagram and saw what was pretty but were greatly satisfied on the taste of it!

But also I gotta talk about the Flavor Burst Soft Serve. What it is is Vanilla Ice Cream where the ridges of the swirls have lines of your choice of flavors. I usually get the Rainbow Flavor Burst because it gives me all the flavors (and it looks HELLA pretty). But you could get a strawberry flavor burst which coats the ridges with a pinkish red flavor.

All in all, I would at least make a visit here once a year during the summer, even though the past summer we came 6 times (give us a break, we just tried it for the first time...

Tom's Dairy Freeze is a cute, vintage, and long-standing ice cream spot. This place has been on my bucket list for a while now, and with all the recent hype surrounding it, I can say it lives up to it. Worth it if you're contemplating the try.

🥘☕️ This place serves so much more than just soft-serve ice cream and sundaes. They also serve funnel cakes, slush, floats, milkshakes, and ice cream sandwiches.

We ordered: Twist dipped in Chocolate with Peanuts (8/10) This combo reminded me of Drumsticks but without the artificial flavourings and higher quality The peanut topping was an extra $1 The dipping was $1 for medium-sized cones I got this in medium and whoa is the sizing huge, I would say you can get a small, and depending on your appetite you'll be satisfied (total $7.55 not including tax) ➕️ Plus point - the dipped cones didn't melt for a super long time (15-20mins)

Lemon Lime Slush (7/10) Your regular slush, but tastes good ($3.45 small)

Twist dipped Butterscotch with Oreos (8/10) It was coated in Oreo chunks instead of your regular Oreo crumbles which made a huge difference in flavour as a topping

Vanilla with Sprinkles (7/10) It tasted good, you can taste the natural milk flavour in this one

Coffee Milkshake (6/10) I got this for the coffee flavour but it didn't come through, it tasted more like a vanilla shake ($6.50 small)

🕑 Good hours and is open til 10 pm.

🌿✨️ The aesthetics of this place is cute and vintage. They maintained the 60s look which is such a refreshing thing to see nowadays. It has plenty of outside seating available.

🤍 Customer service is amazing, and everything was kept clean and tidy as well. There was a line for this place, but it wasn't much of a wait considering how fast they took our order and served us. It is a CASH ONLY place, and the parking is super limited so we had to park...

❗️I hope people pay attention to the change when paying here❗️ I’m writing this review with the hope that the owner sees it and addresses the issue I encountered today. Unfortunately, even though this was my first visit, it turned out to be a disappointing experience. I’ve walked past this ice cream shop many times on my way to the nearby cinema, and it’s always bustling with people, so today I decided to finally give it a try. I ordered a small vanilla sundaes, which cost $5.25, and handed the cashier a $20 bill (since it's cash-only here). She gave me a bill and some coins as change, with no receipt. At the time, I didn’t think much of it and didn’t ask for a receipt. I just pocketed the change and left with my sundaes. However, when I wanted to sort out my coins in the evening, I realized that the cashier had short-changed me. I should have received around $14 in change(even after tax), but when I counted it, I found that I had only received $9.95. The bill she gave me was a $5 when it should have been a $10. The tax won't cost $5 in this case. I’m not sure how this happened, and I regret not counting the change immediately because I trusted them. It’s shocking to have this happen, especially at such a popular establishment. I hope the owner sees this review, checks the records from after 6 pm on August 18th, and makes it right by returning the missing change. Thank you.
