Although I eat pasta occasionally, I enjoy it ONLY if it is very good. I ordered gluten-free and vegetarian pomodoro which is basically spaghetti, cherry tomato, basil, grana padano (similar to parmesan cheese) and red sauce. I called in to place an order. The person who took my call was very accommodating and helpful in explaining the options for gluten-free and vegetarian pasta. There was another one later on (Stephanie), who was also very helpful in giving further information regarding options. I placed the order around 11:00ish, and was advised the pasta would be ready in 20 minutes. True to their word, the pasta was actually ready precisely in 20 minutes. The pomodoro gluten-free pasta is very delicious. The amount of sauce is just right for me, although some people may want more sauce. The pasta itself was cooked just right – not too firm and not too soggy. It’s almost al dente, although al dente is a bit firmer. The combination of ingredients is flavourful – I tasted hints of herbs, garlic, and cheese in the sauce. The price is right for the amount of pasta, as well as for its freshness. One has to also factor in the pricing that the restaurant is in Toronto downtown. Overall, I would highly recommend pomodoro to others. As this is the very first pasta I have had from this restaurant, I would be coming back for more of the other vegetarian and gluten-free options. As an aside, I don’t work for Tosto. I don’t have any representation or interest in the company. I’m definitely a...
Read moreIt’s disappointing to see a wave of recent 1-star reviews that are clearly fake and defamatory. These reviews attempt to slander a small, family-run business that has been proudly serving the community with great food and service for over 10 years.
As an employee, I can confidently clarify a few things: We do not have cockroaches in our food. The photo posted was not taken at our restaurant — any regular customer can tell that it doesn’t even resemble any of our menu items. None of our employees are 30–40-year-old men. Our front-team consists of myself (age 20), my father (60), and a female staff member (also 20). We treat our customers with respect. While there is always room for improvement, we absolutely do not engage in behavior like throwing food at customers — that’s simply false.
We genuinely welcome fair and honest feedback, because it helps us grow. But when four 1-star reviews appear in a single day, all with broken grammar and false claims, it becomes clear they’re not credible.
We’ve reported these to Google, but unfortunately, it seems they’re taking these outrageous accusations at face value — rather than recognizing that sometimes, people are just being malicious.
We have never requested to take down any negative reviews as we believe in transparency and free speech, but this is false and unacceptable, if anyone sees this please help report the previous wave of...
Read moreDon't let the pictures fool you...the nice looking pictures of the dishes on the web site may make it look like it's an expensive, fancy place, but it's actually an affordable, laid-back place. You order off the big menu on the wall, pay at the cash, and get your food when called.
And those reviews that talked about not being able to hear your name when there's a crowd--those comments are outdated. They now give you buzzers so you don't have to listen for your name.
As for the food, it's freshly made pasta, so for those of you who are used to the processed stuff, this may take some getting used to. I had spaghetti and found it not soft enough for my liking, but I'm sure that's an easy fix if you just ask at the time you place order for them to cook it a little longer.
The pricing for single dishes is around $10-30, which is definitely reasonable for a place in the heart of downtown Toronto. Tips are optional, but the staff obviously works hard, so I recommend you leave one in the tip jar by the cash register.
This place is definitely worth checking out if enjoy pizza and pasta and you're around the Bay and...
