mmmm this place blew my mind and i’m chinese so my review is instantly worth more than any non-chinese person’s. mother’s dumplings was my go-to when i lived downtown but i feel like this place surpasses mother’s dumps.
tonight i got the veggie panfried and it comes in this green wrapping - maybe spinach infused dough?? a - filled with i think tofu, egg, wood ear and maybe other stuff. point is, i like it even better than the meat filled ones.
but we also got pan fried pork and cabbage and the fried noodles w chicken (but maybe too much food) Aaand of course always the red bean pancake for dessert but i basically eat it at all points of the meal.
point is, this is a chinese restaurant with a dongbei flair with the dumplings and onion pancakes, both which are always well done but also a cantonese touch with the fried noodles and americanized dishes like kungpao chicken. and they actually are able to execute each dish with the quality that it deserves. i always worry about chinese menus w way too much stuff on it to guarantee freshness but Tumi is freaking amazing and it’s also making me fat so good thing i exercised my thumbs typing...
Read moreWe've tried Tumi twice and find it inconsistent. Ordering and pick-up are super easy, the gentleman on site is very friendly, and the prices are good, but that's not enough. Last night we had Kung Pao chicken, Sichuan-style green beans, and pork and cabbage dumplings. The chicken was tasty with a wonderful smoky flavour. The dumplings are very good and probably a sure bet when ordering from Tumi. The green beans were nothing short of terrible. They were very bland, with almost no flavour and certainly no heat. And to add insult to injury, they were terribly overcooked to the point of being mushy. They were near inedible and in fact my partner wouldn't eat them. I don't think they should have been sold to us in that state. We will approach Tumi with caution going forward. I'm not sure veg dishes are their strength, as a broccoli dish ordered on another occasion was also underwhelming.
TL;dr: Food is inconsistent. Dumplings may be the most reliably good thing...

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. This place is a cute spot for dinner with family or friends. Roughly 10 small tables in the entire place.
Cheap parking on the street or in lots nearby.
The menu is easy to digest and has a variety of options. Surprisingly they don’t have a lot of dumpling options despite being called a dumpling house??? Ordered a few different dumplings and some green beans for veggies. The dumplings were steamed well and for the most part tasty. I wouldn’t recommend the seafood dumpling with egg. Was a bit weird for my taste but it wasn’t horrible. The beans were cooked well.
I would come again or get takeout since there was a never ending stream of takeout the entire time I was there. I just wish there were a bit more options...
