Twice as Nice is that classic place you go to if there is nothing else available....it’s not that great but it’s edible. What makes me give it a 1 instead of a 3 star review is one particular incident that recently happened. I was in the mood for fried chicken and my spot (Nyam Nyam) was out of fried chicken so I went to Twice as Nice. I called ahead and was told to come in and let the cashier know when I get there that I had already placed an order. I went inside, (there was a line) and I waited for the attention of the cashier. She was a short, older lady who seems completely lost as front of house. She did not seem to know who ordered what and the other staff were constantly at the front helping her. She was also quite rude. I waited patiently for 15 minutes, watching my food sit on the window getting cold. When it was finally my turn, she asks me why I didn’t tell her my food was ready?!?!! Like what? I don’t work there, I should not have to tell you how to do your job. I smiled, paid and left and decided then and there I would not order again. Coincidentally, my friend wanted to go there a couple days later and didn’t have a mask so I went in to collect her food. It seemed very chaotic in the front as they were trying a new order taking system. There was a gentleman who kept asking for his food and other questions. The same short lady, spoke quite rudely to him and when he walked away she says “yo head big like”. I was so embarrassed for the man and for the other people who had to witness this kind of behaviour in a place of business. Twice as Nice is depending on our business, yet their front of house is just always chaotic and an attitude that suggests they don’t need us, the customers. They would benefit greatly from a system that has one person taking the orders and who can communicate effectively with back of house to ensure a smooth transaction for the customers. That lady could probably do well without all the pressures that comes with cashing out an order (like back of house). With a 3.9 rating, most of which talks about attitude of the staff, they would benefit greatly from taking to heart what people are saying so they can be known for their food again which actually isn’t too bad...just not my favourite. The rare times I go, I always get their fried chicken with rice and peas. Their fried chicken is really crispy and tastes juicy although lacking in flavour. And their rice and peas has a lot of pimento seed shell which makes some bites unpleasant. Their rice is very flavourful, although I can taste sugar (which is...
Read moreWhen they first started the had pride in the way they served the food and how it tasted. Now no. I ordered food 2 weeks ago and the goat was non Existent and it was salty. I Ask them for no coleslaw. And they added coleslaw. I asked them for no gravy, and they piled the gravy in. Now I figure maybe that was a one off. Today, I ordered a large curry goat with rice and peas. No Coleslaw, and when I got the meal there was hardly any weight to it. There was hardly any rice in there, and the goat meat was scattered all over top of the rice. There was so much gravy in there that I could have four other meals with just what was in my meal. It was salty. The presentation was awful. The container was messy. I had to tell them that presentation is key. And that they needed to take the food back and fix it properly and Add food to it because there was hardly anything in a large container. Yeah, before I used to love going to twice as nice for my food, but now I think it's time for me to stop. I was even looking to order catering food for a party coming up. But I have decided to change my mind because this is one too many times that I am dissatisfied with the food. The serving standards of the food is not consistent right across-the-board, with the people that are serving. Some people serve you a good amount. And some people put hardly anything into the container. My whole purpose is not to rip. Anybody's restaurant off for their food. But if I am paying twenty two dollars for a large meal, I expect to see a large meal being served in the container. We hope that the owners are reading this review and considering maybe making up a standard practice when it comes to the serving portions and the presentation of the food because it has been going downhill for a while. We come because we love the food and now, I am considering not coming back because so far, everything has been not up to par. We would like to continue to support our Caribbean people, but the standards have...
Read moreMy girlfriend lives in the area and tried this place for the very first time. First thing is that the building looks very run down but the food was actually decent. When I walked in the atmosphere was a little weird because it’s quite busy and everyone just watches you when you come in. The line up was really long but didn’t take too much time to get the food. I ordered a large oxtail and a large goat with a side of fried chicken. The cashier was very nice and didn’t rush me even though they were busy as heck. When it was time to pay for my food I did but I don’t think they charged me any tax. Which was great! When I received my food it seemed like a lot, which again I’m not complaining. The woman who handed me my food looked very miserable like she worked a 14 hour shift. She just called out a number and passed me my food. When I got home I couldn’t wait to try the food because it made the whole car smell really really good. The first thing I tried was the oxtail. I was a little turned off because it tasted sweet which was weird but the portion they gave me blew my mind. They packed my container full. Next time I’ll definitely order a medium. The oxtail was ok but just not use to the sweetness and also there was a lot of thyme in my food. When I mean a lot I mean A-LOT. I then tried the goat and it was delicious. Seasoned and cooked beautifully. The rice and peas was just alright and they hardly put any coleslaw but I’m not complaining too much because they packed my container full with meat. I would recommend this...
