I was in a mood for a steak and eggs, and since this place is close to my daughter’s school I decided to give it a try. I read another review about how this place caters to old people and that is true. The decor and atmosphere is like a Time Machine to long long time ago. The patrons have aged but the decor has stayed the same. Another observation to make is that, this diner has a typical “Greek restaurant” feel, I don’t know how to describe it but the vibe you get is same as when you go to Frans or other Greek owned restaurants. It’s a feel, even the smell and the menu. The prices are not the highest but are also not the lowest. Considering I was coming for a steak and eggs I thought it was a fair ask. The food actually was very good. The home fries were delicious, crispy on the outside but chewy inside and the right amount of flavour. The steak, was good enough for a diner, wasn’t expecting steakhouse quality. By comparison I eat at another diner type restaurant the week prior (will review soon) and their steak and eggs was awful. Windfields was pretty good. I give the food 5 stars. The only reason I couldn’t write a 5 star review about them was the service was a little slow and the waitress was a little unfriendly + the atmosphere like another reviewer pointed out recently it’s not a “hip/cool” place.

I wanted to love this place because they have been around forever and I really don’t want them to go out of business. They are great for all day breakfast—delicious. But the rest, honestly, was mediocre at best. The food portions were good but it tasted bland, barely any seasoning. The atmosphere was like a cafeteria at a long term care home (no hate to them, love the work they do for our beloved elderly). Service was actually bad. They didn’t check in on us, didn’t refill water, gave a faulty card machine and left—we had to chase them down to pay. Bottom line, wouldn’t go back in person but would order breakfast from delivery apps.

It was ok, it was quite busy and service was good. The all day breakfast and coffee was expensive for $20. 3 eggs, toast, homefries/french fries(menu says this so maybe later in the day you get french fries instead), 3 sausages. For the price I would have expected fresher food but the toast was out for too long due to half of each toast being a rock so it was like melba toast. Home fries wasn't as hot and with the inconsistent chunks and the large one's were undercooked. The sausages were deep fried considering it was a uniform color and the end casing popped out.

We decided to come to Windfields for a Father's Day brunch. It was a busy but we managed to get a table for 4. We were greeted fairly quickly and brought water. We placed out orders with the waitress... she seemed very flustered. When the food came we realized the salad had bacon on it (our mistake to not check, I have a food allergy to pork) We apologized tot he waitress and said we are so sorry but we did not realize the salad had bacon on it. She got upset and asked us "What am I going to do now?" and just stood their as if we were children she was scolding. We told her we would pay for the salad but we cannot eat it as we have an allergy. Her reaction was embarrassing. I decided to speak with the manager, who lightly apologized and he said she was overwhelmed. Definitely not an excuse to treat paying customers this way. We got a new waitress but the manager didn't compensate us or come speak with us, it was a very classless experience. We will never return to this...

Decided to check this place out based on the reviews.

-Lipstick on one of the glasses

-Although the food looked delicious it was incredibly bland. You know when you eat something expecting some flavour but nothing happens? Imagine that. Not horrible but incredible underwhelming.

-Overpriced. I ordered the chicken souvlaki dinner, 17.45. Jimmy the greek takeout is half that price and is much better no offence. Boyfriend ordered steak. Almost 30 dollars. Again no flavour. Cooked good but just boring and meh.

-Service was slow considering the restaurant was practically empty when we arrived.

The atmosphere is rather drab and seems to be stuck in the 70's with dreary music playing in the background.

They seem to cater to a much older clientele which maybe explains the lack of flavour and seasoning on the food? Overpriced and the food was boring, bland, and absolutely no flavour at all. Won't...
