Just finished shopping, and was looking to grab a bite with friends. Stumbled across this affordable place on google and decided to give it a try.
The interior was cozy, we quickly got seated before taking a closer at their menu. I was amazed by the item selections, there were a couple that I’ve never or rarely seen at other sushi spots.
We got started with edamame, tempura, and the seaweed salad. There were all pretty solid, but the shrimp tempura was especially enjoyable. I often come across fried foods that are extremely greasy, or the crumbing would be too thick. I was not in fact disappointed as the bite was light and crunchy, would definitely get again.
For mains, we ordered; dynamite roll, and Japango roll, and eel fried rice to share. All I can say is that Japango roll.. it left me satisfied. The combination of that blowtorched salmon and fresh scallop, entangled in a single bite was gold. I’m not really into raw or semi cooked seafood but wow I’m glad I gave it a try. The eel was tender, nothing too crazy though.
Overall, having dined here I would definitely make a return, especially for that...
Read moreI am honestly surprised by how good this small and unassuming sushi restaurant on the corner of Bay and Gerrard is.
The staff are super friendly and the prices are very reasonable for downtown. Order through apps and you'll get lots of BOGO deals too.
I ordered the sashimi dinner and every piece of fish on it was fresh. While I don't like the inclusion of butterfish, there were other rare cuts like salmon belly, sweet shrimp and even oyster. Best of all, there was so much food and the quality matched the quantity! The rice that came with it was also sushi rice, which was a nice surprise.
As someone who has seen restaurants come and go at this very location, I hope this place will presevere. It's hard to find sushi places that provide good quality...
Read moreThis little gem popped up in a map search, and as it is very close to work and has great reviews I decided to give it a try. NO REGRETS. The food is incredibly fresh, well prepared, and thoughtfully and carefully presented (love the use of cucumber shavings as garnish, edible, so tired of seeing plastic grass in takeout). The people working the counter and preparing the food are super welcoming and friendly. Great value for the money, too. Had a miso soup, a couple of maki and some salmon sashimi, and it was just perfect. Don't hesitate to visit this spot if craving great sushi...
