Chiang Rai Thai Cuisine — Restaurant in Town of Cochrane

This restaurant has a 4.6 rating and a number of high reviews, so I was expecting better.

Three of us arrived for lunch around 1:30 on a Friday. Two tables were already seated when we arrived, but the place was otherwise empty. Our server sat us promptly and was sufficiently attentive throughout the meal, but appeared to be unenthusiastic about her job.

The walls had strips of paint missing and the decor was uninspired. Unfortunately, the food was uninspired as well.

I had the beef salad. The dressing was good, but the beef was on the dry side and there was not enough vegetable to technically classify this dish as a salad. My companions did not particularly enjoy their orders (chicken coconut soup, lunch special with penang curry) either.

Just moved to Cochrane, and love Thai food so I NEED a favourite local Thai restaurant! This is not it! have lived in Thailand for a total of four years, and will have to make my own food more often. This food was not bad, it just didn't make me think I was eating in Thailand. The reviews were so good, I expected more authentic Thai tastes. As a farang, I know that you don't have to be Thai to make good Thai food, but when I can't order in Thai, the food is often disappointing like this. Thai recipes and ingredients are so available now compared to forty years ago, we should all expect better Thai...

Every time I get Chiang Rai, I am 100% satisfied. Try the panang curry and pad thai. Everything else is great, but I can't not get those each time.

The restaurant itself is a cozy little affair for about 30 seats with some very cool art pieces.

The staff are always very friendly, respectful, and attentive, and tonight were very gracious with our group, even though we came with only 50 minutes before close.
