Ordered butter chicken, karai chicken, chicken biriyani and shahi paneer. Have never left a poor review before for any indian restaurant. But this was an exception and beyond terrible food. I just spoke to the restaurant owner to explain the low quality of the butter chicken (tasted like campbells tomatoe soup) and karai chicken was full of gravy with onions. The Biriyani wasn't even close to how biriyani is to be properly cooked. Like boiled rice scrambled with pieces of butter chicken.
I informed the owner, though I live in White Rock, I am willing to give you the opportunity to either redo the items or provide another option. This is the normal resolution for any business as I didnt want to escalate or write a review without first having a conversation with management.
However I was surprised by the ignorance displayed by the management, he claimed full denial. I also told him, I refrained from calling him for 24 hours, as was struggling with the notion to complain and felt I just wasted $77.00
What is most annoying were the revolving excuses from the management. Not wanting to take any responsibilty or understanding the meaning of customer service. He kept on suggesting our clients are "white people and they are satisfied with our food" which was further insulting.
I even offered to call one of our local Surrey restaurants, as chefs/owners amongst our community usually know each other.
In past 20 years, have gone to various types of indian restaurants in many cities around the world. The food at Indian Bistro was beyond terrible but the owners refusal to even acknowledge such or attempt to blame the customer only compounds the anger.
Under no circumstances, was this about free food, never even crossed our mind. Further we live in White Rock, some 30 min from the restaurant.
But rather the management should understand and respect in this country, customers have certain rights which includes the opportunity to convey our justified displeasure, while businesses also have obligations of certain standards and professionalism. Shame on the owner for even suggesting in his comments/reply free food was expected.
I have once suggested such but rather kept asking him, "what would you do in such circumstances if you were customer?"
If you truly want authentic indian food,...
Read moreWe ordered something different than what we received.chicken was uncooked.when we called the restaurant they did not even acknowledge our concern.
I am just editing my original review coz I don't have option to reply back to the restaurant's review: The real issue is that you guys don't know what customer service is and how to make things right. Instead of making things right you are putting this long comment here and telling me that we don't know what dish we ordered. The chicken was undercooked and we are not 6 months old here who just started eating the solids and can't differentiate between under cooked food or cooked food. I paid for the food and you didn't give me for free. The offer you gave me to cook the dish again and I come pick it up then I did that once and I have 2 lil ones at home whom I can't leave to make trips to a restaurant coz they don't know how to cook dishes. The kali Mirch I will bring for you at the restaurant and will show you how it looks like. Simply just adding Black pepper to butter chicken doesn't mean you can just name the dish. Also just to hide my review you asked your staff or whoever to put 5 star reviews right after my review which also shows that how insecure you guys are and you can't even take a feedback straight and make things right. I didn't say anything wrong in the review. I just mentioned how we received the food but you left a detailed answer which showing customer's fault and saying customer is wrong but you guys are never wrong is really commendable. I hope soon you learn how to fix mistakes and how to give customer service otherwise the business won't survive for...
