Nice store and cool statue outside and overall nice interior, but there were a few issues, you couldn’t order a kids size for an adult you had to be 7 and under which is really odd. Then there were the servers who were really rude and it felt like they were annoyed and inconvenienced by us taking more time to choose what we wanted even though there was no one behind us. The person who was taking my order also just stopped talking to me in the middle of placing an order to chat with her coworker. I had to get their attention in which she handed me off to another person. She also was annoyed with my friend not knowing where to pay because there are two tap terminals and she didn’t say which one to use. The scoops were also TINY like a single scooped looked like a kids scoop and even the medium cup looked like a single scoop. The flavours were also not rich at all, I tried the tiramisu which I was excited for but it tasted more like watery banana coffee and the crème brûlée flavour just didn’t taste like anything not even with the sauce in it. I will try Farm House in Provence next time as suggested by other reviewers!

During a holiday outing with my family, we had the pleasure of visiting here, where we indulged in a delightful selection of treats. Our order included a strawberry ice cream, a Spanish latte coffee, and a double-baked almond croissant, and each item left us with a taste of satisfaction. The strawberry ice cream was a sweet and refreshing delight, perfect for cooling down on a warm day. The Spanish latte coffee was a wonderful one, offering a rich and invigorating flavor profile. However, the standout star of our visit was undoubtedly the double-baked almond croissant. Its flaky layers, filled with almond goodness, made it a delectable treat that left our taste buds dancing with joy. It was the unanimous winner among our selections. The atmosphere within the ice cream shop was rather ordinary, but this was more than compensated by the delicious offerings. The focus here seems to be on the quality of the products, which they certainly deliver. The customer service was attentive and friendly.

Overall an incredible disappointment. Gelato is supposed to be stored at a lower temperature than ice cream for the flavours to be fully released; theirs was far too cold. Salted butter caramel was lacking salt, and chocolate tasted more like a sticky chocolate custard than gelato. Gelato is all about flavor and texture, and Maria’s Gelato failed to deliver on both. A medium with two scoops was the size of a small elsewhere, and came to $8.95 with the waffle cone. A pint is $17. For this price, one would expect the best. I hope they will strive to improve, as the shop is perfectly located in the heart of Fort Langley, a town that desperately needs a good gelato place. Unfortunately, they may not be motivated to do so, as the tourists keep coming anyway.

They do not take their vegan and dairy free options seriously. If you are truly vegan, or celiac, or have any serious allergies to commonly found ingredients in ice cream etc, I'd prepare myself for tons of cross contamination of the regular flavors. Our neice had to tell the girls at the counter to stop using the same scoop for their ice cream. They were rude to her when she tried to explain why. Then clearly it didnt matter because everything was cross contaminated already (something our niece was obviously unaware of). So it doesn't matter if it's "vegan friendly Gluten friendly, or otherwise. It's nonsense. There is no such thing.

They do not take allergies seriously either. My neice went there and after her mom explained to them 3 times (while the server was being dismissive and cutting her off) that her child had SEVERE allergies to certain ingredients and explained to them in great detail what they were, they still didn't follow basic foodsafe procedures to ensure that her food wasn't cross contaminated with ingredients she is allergic to. All the while explaining that its safe and free of the concerend ingredients. And what happened? Cross-contamination! She had a SEVERE reaction, passed out on the pavement outside, had to have 2 shots of her epi pen to gain consciousness, vomited and then was ill the rest of the day. Very traumatic for her. Steer clear if you have any allergies, or are a true vegan. What the hell is vegan friendly? They don't care sadly. Our Niece could have died. That's how serious her allergies are. This place advertised their vegan and dairy free options, and that is why her mom took her there for a treat....something that is very rare for her due to her allergies. If they had not advertised these options AND reassured our niece that there weren't any of the ingredients that could kill her in that ice cream, our niece would have never taken her child there to begin with. Be very careful people. This is life and death for some. And they don't seem to take that very seriously. Their reply also shows their dismissiveness to the seriousness of advertising items that are free of these ingredients. At the time of my neices visit, there was no such verbiage as 'gluten FRIENDLY ' etc. Our Niece was right and she knows 100% what her kid is allergic to and explained in great detail those details. Again, she was reasured it was ok. They were wrong. Her child's severe reaction is...

TLDR - will not return, worst customer service

The flavor was very good. However, the value is poor as their portions are extremely small, even when compared to other gelato places in the Greater Vancouver area. But the worst aspect is the customer service.

The first girl who greeted us was very friendly. We ordered a kid's size and asked the server if it's possible to have it in a cone but upside down in a cup. She said, 'No problem.' Most ice cream shops in Vancouver do this, especially for kids, and if they need to charge extra, they tell us.

Then another girl came from the back and asked us if we knew we had to pay for the cup. I said no, as they didn't inform us. I told her if that's the case, we'll just get them in a cup. She gave us a disapproving look, as if we were trying to be cheap. After we paid for the ice cream, she scooped a portion from our ice cream that the friendlier girl had scooped and put the portion back into the ice cream container. While this was happening, the first friendlier girl had a look on her face as if this happends quite often.

I'm not sure if that 2nd rude girl was a manager or the owner. Other people in this review section seem to have had similar expereince with this person.

Even if you decide to give this place a try, if you see this girl at the counter,...

This was the worst experience I have ever have. It is NOT dairy free when they say it was. All of it is cross-contaminated. My daughter and I went there and I explained to the girls 3 times how severe her allergies are. After 3 attempts of getting the staff to redo her order because they used the same scoop as reg ice cream or held ice-cream and non dairy together in the same hand... my daughter took 1 lick and INSTANTLY went into allergic shock. She started screaming, crying, then after we gave her 2 doses of medicine, she passed out on the sidewalk, then vomited everywhere, until hours later her body was free from it. When I explained to the girls how severe it was, they kept cutting me off and acting like it wasn't important. The fact I had to explain to them and make them re-do the order 3 times proves that. It has nothing to do with how much it costs or the flavor, its the fact that they offer "dairy-free and vegan" options, when clearly it is not. I suggest you re-train your staff on the health and safety of each and every one of your customers, not just the general public. It is very rare we get to ever treat her because of all her allergies, and then the one time we do, this is what happens....
