I don’t normally write these; however, the food at this business is awesome, their product is awesome and I want them to be successful. BUT they need to correct some of their server issues. It was the worst service I have ever had in my life.
My girlfriends and I visited Trading Post on Friday (Jan 17) night for a one of our close friends birthday celebration. We have all bee in before and normally it’s great! They were busy, but we were promptly greeted and seated. The lovely host did everything he could to get us in quickly. It all went sideways when our server showed up.
First, we asked if we could move tables to the table that had a working heater. She said no. We wouldn’t fit (we were a table of 5. The table we wanted to go to was for 4.) She walked away. Then about 5 minutes later. The host came in slid tables together and seated 6 people!!
She quickly took our drink orders and we felt rushed to make our food picks. We are looking for explanations on items but she simply was not going to waste her time explaining anything. Towards the end of our meal we had heard the happy hour starts at 9. So we asked her and she sighed and said “it’s not 9 yet” we pointed out it was in fact 9:01 and we wanted to know what happy hour was all about. She said “it’s like wine and some beer for like $5 bucks”. Then a she walked away. We were speechless. She did come back with happy hour menus so we ordered deserts and drinks.
Finally we asked for the bill at like 9:30 and she said “Just so you know I was off over a half hour ago” we again had no response and were blown away by how bad we felt to keep her working. We got our bills and she showed up with multiple machines to take our payments and quick as possible. She crumpled up our receipts and took them with her. We stayed at our table for another half hour to chat and saw our server drinking at the bar, at the end of her shift. She was still there when we left. Unbelievable....
Trading Post your products are awesome, a few in-house server policies would be recommended. She could have handed our table off to someone else if she had to go. We were made to feel ashamed for trying to have a fun evening with friends. We will go back, of course. But if I ever get assigned her again, I would ask to...
Read moreIncredibly impressed with the management. Specifically Ellen.
We ordered dinner for three on SkipTheDishes - first time ordering from Trading Post. A burger, chicken pasta, a couple of appetizers. Small problem, they sent a pickup order consisting of two chicken burgers, a vegan burger and veggie pasta.
The lady at the front desk, who I imagine made the mistake, had called me in a panicked, asking if I was the one that had made the Skip order or the takeout order. That was the only question, she then hung up. We pretty quickly realized what has happened and a couple of minutes later the courier arrived with (not) our food and confirmed our assumption.
I called back, spoke with the same woman, she offered to credit our order and Skip would refund us (which takes several days) and if we wished we could re-order our food. Now financially this is an okay option, I'll get my money back at some point, and we get to keep the food we don't want, and can place our order again. But, and it's a big but, I'm trying to keep my pregnant wife and my sister happy. And they'd like their food now, please.
So I ask for a manager, and Ellen gets on the phone, and within seconds has the problem solved, our food will be here shortly. Perfect. That's all I wanted. This wasn't our mistake, we just want our diner and I'd prefer not to have to place a second order and hope that Skip does actually refund me and I don't have to fight with them about it.
Our food was delivered by a very nice server, still warm, and there was a $20 gift card attached to the bag. The definition of above and beyond.
I own a small business. I can tell Ellen is someone I'd like to hire to manage my business. She immediately identified and solved the problem and turned a bad review into a very good one and earned a repeat customer.
Oh and the food was great....
Read moreSad regrettably avoidable experience. Had family dinner here on Saturday night and left hungry and disappointed.
Server was horrible, fries were so scarce it came in a single layer on the plate. Plain burger was $20 ! It was so expensive that a few of us had to share burgers. The burger was tiny and was not dressed properly, had to add ketchup to redeem it. Caesar salad had fried capers that were awfully salty with almost no dressing. Why did we not complain? Server avoided us after we said we were sharing burgers and did not order drinks. My 70+ yr old mom with a cane had to get up and hunt down somebody to get us ice water that she had already ask the server for. I mean who serves tepid water in 25+ degree weather? (It tasted like river water, btw) We couldn't help her as we had a baby to attend to and all the while the server would come and see to the other tables and keep her back turned to us.
Note to restaurant managers, I don't need some cute 20 yrs old to be my server, I need somebody competent enough to remember or write down my order and provide actual service. People can tell when their server puts on the fake nice customer service voice with zero sincerity.
Places like this and experiences like this put Fort Langley in a negative light, which is sad because people genuinely want come to this historic town to have a good time with their loved ones, not be ripped off and ignored.
The total for 5 adults splitting 3 burgers with a side of fries, one appetizer, and some burgers add ons and ZERO drinks, close to $100. Btw if a place is arrogant enough to ask for 18% tip as a minimum they better have the food and service...
