Review from guy eating his way through the Vietnamese restaurants in the Lower Mainland.
It was a Tuesday movie night and just a few minutes drive from the Cineplex is Naomi restaurant. Who doesn’t like cheap movie night and to keep things under budget we found Naomi with one of the cheapest bowls of Pho around. In this day and age you will definitely not find Pho for under $10 in Vancouver. The regular size (small) bowl of pho at Naomi is priced at a low, low price of $10! Now don’t expect to be stuffed as the bowl is small (similar size to what you’d actually get in Vietnam) but it’s a decent size if you’re just wanting to enjoy a light meal. If you’re hungry than get the large size or order some appys and share with your friends and family.
I ordered my usual (Bun Bo Hue) and it’s decent here. I’m only saying that because if you’ve seen my other reviews I have high expectations for BBH and I have my favs around town.
I am intrigued with their other menu items as they have Banh Xeo and Banh Cuon. I will definitely try one of these the next “movie night”.
Overall a good experience with the food, service was meh as we didn’t receive much attention and no tea refilled.

To me and my wife, it feels like eating from someone who knows the ingredients of a dish, but does not know the proportion of each ingredient, or simply does not love what he serves.
We ordered the lotus salad(goi ngo sen), crab soup(bun rieu) and banh cuon(can't rmb what it called in English). We're ... disappointed with what we had. The lotus in the lotus dish tasted like chemical, probably because it was taken from a imported jar. I understand it's hard to get fresh lotus, but if that's the case, do something to fix it, or don't offer that at all. This is just...bad. The crab soup, I can pretty much see the egg in the supposed "crab". Also understand everybody does that, but no one is as obvious as Naomi. At least do a proper job in shaking that up and make it believable to be crab. The banh cuon is another disapoinment. For some reason, it is chewy instead of normal softness. It's banh cuon, not banh day for god's sake. We suspect there's a mismatch in flour chosen for this dish, but cannot say for sure.
I have high hopes for this restaurants. Nice, clean, professional menu. Offer so many unique dishes. Good service. Warm atmosphere and nice decor. But the food, the food...
Read moreWell I read all the reviews for this place and decide to hit it up well waiting for friends. Now I have had my third meal here and have eaten/sampled over 16 items from the menu. Not one item stood out. The pho was terrible both times. The salad rolls dried out. Spring rolls burnt once and deep friend so long there Where dripping with oil the second time. None of my table mates finished there meals and I didn't find one worth mentioning well sampling. I will admit that's some of there food wasn't bad. Not the worth the price. And it has gone up as of August 25 2014.
Inside was clean. Help was pleasant. But that's not why we came. All and all. 2 out of 10. Better luck else where. I eat out regularly and write up on each place I visit. Vietnamese is my lunch 3 days a week. Got a place I should try? Drop me a line and I'll check it out. Only review after 3 or more. Visits. Or at least 30% of the menu.
