Brand new, beautiful and clean restaurant. When you walk in you wouldn’t feel like you are in a sushi restaurant. We were seated and had to chose from a grilling table or a regular table. We chose the regular table. We ordered 2 appetizers, 2 regular sushi, 1 special roll and 1 Korean noodle. We got our sushi and noodle within reasonable time but as we were working away into our dinner we realized our appetizers never arrived. We tried to make eye contact with our server but she was so busy doing other tasks. She was sitting other customers, taking orders, cleaning dishes and bringing out food. To our surprise the rest of the 3 other servers are doing the same thing. There was no allocation of which area and tables each looked after. When we finally spoke to one of the server about our missing items she stated to wait for our server to help us. We finally made eye contact with our server and inquired about our appetizers. She check in the kitchen talked with the man (presumably the manager) and another server. She came back to our table to say “sorry we missed your appetizers, we will just remove those from your bill.” We reluctantly agreed as we were already full. My wife recalled seeing another server delivering our appetizers at another table. Throughout the entire dinner service no one checked on how were are doing. Toward the end of our dinner , the man(presumably manager) came to our table delivered 2 different sushi dishes while we thought “this must be their way of saying sorry.” He then caught his mistake and delivered those to the nearby table. Food was decent and sushi was okay. The Korean noodle was tasty. If you are in the area of Langley and wanting a good sushi place there are plenty more options. We didn’t get to try to grill meats, not sure if we are going to. We looked at our nearby tables having them and they don’t look overly happy either. My suggestion is for management to have a better system for their servers. Have designated seaters, servers etc. I suggest better customer service relationship as well. The interaction between the server and ourselves was poor. The server assumed we didn’t want the missing appetizers. We should’ve probably said something but we were not in the...
Read moreHere are some health benefits of traditional Korean cuisine served at Skobi :
Gut Health: Korean cuisine emphasizes fermented foods like kimchi, doenjang (fermented soybean paste), and gochujang (fermented chili paste), which are rich in probiotics. These beneficial bacteria support gut health, aiding digestion, and strengthening the immune system. Rich in Vegetables: Korean meals include an array of vegetables, often raw or lightly cooked, preserving essential vitamins and minerals. Dishes like bibimbap, which combines rice, vegetables, and protein, provide fiber, antioxidants, and phytonutrients that help reduce inflammation and improve overall health. Low in Saturated Fats: Korean food traditionally uses less oil and emphasizes boiling, steaming, and fermenting over frying. Foods like doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) or seolleongtang (beef bone soup) are flavorful but lower in saturated fats, promoting heart health. Balanced Macronutrients: Korean cuisine often follows the “bap-sik” structure, which pairs rice (carbohydrates) with a mix of proteins and vegetables, promoting a balanced diet. Proteins come from lean meats, tofu, eggs, and seafood, providing essential amino acids without excessive calories. Antioxidants and Anti-inflammatory Properties: Many Korean dishes use garlic, ginger, chili peppers, and sesame oil, which are known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Ingredients like green tea and medicinal herbs (ginseng, jujube) are also common in Korean food and support immune function. Weight Management: The variety of flavors and textures in Korean meals promotes satiety, which can reduce overeating. Additionally, the use of low-calorie, nutrient-rich ingredients helps with weight management and supports a healthy metabolism. Blood Sugar Control: Many Korean meals incorporate low-glycemic-index foods, like brown rice and various fibrous vegetables, which help stabilize blood sugar levels and may lower the risk of diabetes.
Korean food, especially when prepared in traditional ways, combines nutritional balance with beneficial compounds, offering a wide range of health benefits that align well with modern...
Read moreWow, now I know why they have a high star rating. Our meal was absolutely delicious. We wanted the experience of Korean BBQ, they had the grill at the table and we chose 2 types of marinated beef. It is very expensive, $86 for just my daughter and I, plus a tip. I have not spent that much at a restaurant for 2 people. I know others may not think that is expensive, but it is for us. We may come back on a Tuesday or Wednesday when they have specials. But in reality, the cost is prohibitive. The experience was amazing and very enjoyable. Haven't enjoyed a restaurant with such good food, atmosphere and service, in a while. I would go again for a super special occasion. I love that they give 5 side dishes for free that come with your meal. At least for the BBQ tables, they also have non-BBQ tables, so I am not sure of those. The zucchini side dish was good and the sweet potatoes were SO good, I could have just eaten those all night. The side dishes were unlimited, which was nice as well. We were not a fan of the kimchi or salad as both were too spicy for us. I am not sure what the other dish was, perhaps turnip or radish with a sweet vinegar marinade, we found it okay. The meat for BBQing was delicious. We could have eaten a lot more, but obviously couldn't because of the price, which was sad....but we were satisfied when we left. If you are on a limited budget like us, I say it is absolutely worth trying once for a special occasion. If you have money and can eat there often, you will want to. For our $85 we got two types of marinated beef each 200grams. We also got rice cakes with beef. It was delicious, but only had 3 pieces of beef in it, which was disappointing but the flavour didn't disappoint. We also got one salmon maki. The beef was $60 for the 400grams. So a lot of money for less than a pound of beef, but SO good. Try dunking your beef in the sweet potatoes sauce, that was delicious. We like sweet sauces, if you do...you will love it. Great experience, worth...
